2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

Kepler with his first career home run and it happens to be a 3 run walk off. He now has as many walk offs (1) as Mauer.

How many walk offs leads the team? I bet it's not more than 2 or 3. Silly stat, just say Mauer sucks if that's what you want to say. :P

Jameson Taillon, just called up by the Pirates to face Yoenis Cespedes and a buncha stiffs wearing Mets' uniforms, is pitching an entirely unremarkable game tonight.

Mauer was dam good at one time. But to me and many others to only have one walk off in his entire career is hard to believe. That's all I'm saying. Silly stat or not it's one that is mind boggling. Here is a little history of walk off wins and losses for the Twins. Puckett the all time leader with 12. He was a true leader on the field.

From today's Boston Globe baseball notes:

From Bill Arnold’s goodie bag: “Through Wednesday, DHs for the Astros had 19 RBIs while Giants pitchers had 20.”

Teheran missed a perfect game by one AB (Conforto third inning single). The Mets have already been perfect gamed on Father's Day. (Jim Bunning, 1964.)

Watched it on WOR. IIRC, 1st game of a twin bill.

The better one was the Memorial Day DH vs the Giants where game 2 became a marathon and ended way late at night. I think I watched the whole thing.

The perfect game 6/21/64

The 2nd game of DH vs SFG 5/31/64

After only their first 12 years the Mets had played in three of the five longest games in ML history, losing all three. Ed Sudol was homeplate umpire in all three.

Doesn't surprised me that the Bunning game was a DH. Most Sundays had doubleheaders back then. They would last abut 5 hours. If they did that today it would be more like 7.

IINM the Mets played 26 doubleheaders their first season, for one third of all their games.

Edit: it was 30 DH, for 60 games.

Wasn't baseball fun back then? But we were kids and everything was simpler. Do you remember the Mets announcers during spring training games asking for people to board the single Mets ballplayers?

And Kiner's Korner was the best post game show - ever.

Wow. I don't go that far back. My first Mets games were in 1971.

No argument.
