How 'bout them Giants.Fkn Giants.
eom
Jake Arrieta lost today, his first L since July 25 of last year.
Cubs were 39-15 through the first third of the season prior to yesterday. On pace for a 117-45 record.
They need to only go 61-46 the rest of the way to hit 100 wins. I'll take it.
61-47.
If they go .500 (54-54) they still wind up 93-69 and in the playoffs. So I think they can afford to drop their games with the Mets if you don't mind.

This isn't strictly MLB related, but the St. Paul Saints (unaffiliated minor league team) named their annual pig mascot Little Red Porquette. The pig is actually a little bit red in color, but I couldn't tell if it was a dye job or not. Every year a new pig is made into a mascot, and each year it's given a pun name that's topical to something local.
The Saints were probably the best thing about living in the cities, for me. When I was watching them Darryl Strawberry was attempting a comeback and the games were very entertaining.
I don't really go to Twins games much, just once since they moved to Target Field. The new CHS Field the Saints built is much more appealing and the Saints put an overall much better product out there even if the actual baseball talent isn't as good. They keep their fans engaged, and face value of ticket is still such that you can afford to take a family without busting the bank.
Does Mike Veeck still run the team? His Dad's motto was "Every day is Mardi Gras and every fan is King."
After their butt kicking by the Red Sox today 15-4 the Twins are now 25 games under .500 at 18-43. This team will easily surpass 100 losses for the year. Twins need to go 45-56 the rest of the way to avoid the century mark. I don't see that happening.
