2015 World Championship Thread

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

How many goalies is the US team carrying? Would like to see Lyon get some action, but if Hellebuyck continues his play, that is fine as well.

Lots of games in a short period of time - I would think Lyons would see action against one of the weaker teams, such as today against Norway.

Last year Conner was in the same spot and never saw the ice. Campbell is another AHL goalie with wjc experience, kinda doubt we'll see Lyon

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

Game is on NBC Sports live streaming and being showed on tape delay tonight at 11pm.

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

strong game by Eichel. surprised to see he was out there in last minute when
defense mattered. Both goaltenders were player of game

Re: 2015 World Championship Thread

I missed the game, but was a bit surprised at the score, just 2-1. Might the US have taken them a little lightly?

I think so. Norway came out of the gate and hit every USA player possible and grabbed the early lead on a juicy rebound. USA was outplayed again in the first period, but managed to tie it 1-1. USA dominated the second, and went ahead 2-1 on a tip by Brock Nelson and then held on for the 2-1 W. Hellebuyck was superb in net again. Steve Moses, who has been very effective with the puck, took a hard hit and went out with an injury and is under evaluation. Hope he's ok for the big game against Russia on Monday morning. I like this team...they've got good speed and skill up front, the Reilly/Jones pairing on D is fun to watch and Hellebuyck has been excellent.

I saw the replay - BRUTAL! In college it would clearly have been a major and game DQ - hit to the head. Moses' helmet came off and his head hit the boards, hard. But an injured leg may be what keeps him out of the next game, and possibly beyond. If the ruling on the ice (no penalty) stands then clearly the rules for this tournament going forward need to be revised. I would think the NHL would have an interest in seeing their players and draft choices being better protected - there's a lot of money at stake.

Agreed, Moses has definite breakaway speed and he led the KHL in goals last season (36), which is huge in that Russian league. He had a nice breakaway in the 1st period against Norway. Edmonton and Columbus are believed to be interested. Surprised by the lack of call on that hit, usually the refs call international games pretty tight.

Highlights Funny announcer...did he say *ss after the first goal by Norway?:D

Moses has already signed with Nashville. He played for Jokerit, the Finnish team that just joined the KHL.
