Overall "Mikey" was impressive, especially when he had the puck on his stick and creating offense. Definitely one of the best pure skating defensive players on the ice, maybe THE best. But I thought he struggled a bit at times in his own end. His biggest challenge I think is his positioning in the defensive zone, and also to get stronger/more aggressive when defending, especially along the wall. But for his first big test against NHL level opposition he acquitted himself very well.
In all seriousness, Eichel struggled through the first half of the year on face-offs. Then he improved pretty significantly. Then he struggled in the third period against PC.
And also he certainly had games where he didn't impress. I had two separate guys go to two different games to see Eichel in person, and came away wondering waht all the hype was about. He usually followed those games up with a dominant performance.
Finally, let's not forget that Eichel is an 18-year old playing against many older guys. I know there are other young guys on the team, but any others as young as him?
