2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

So if I may ask those who know, to get the streaming video, I go to NCAA.com? Getting psyched.....:)

I go to the videos involving ECAC teams via this page: http://ecachockey.com/women/index

Links are up to both the Clarkson game (BC feed) and the Harvard- Quinny game (Ivy League).

P.S...It is snowing again outside..a great day to watch hockey. :)

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

With BC and Wisconsin posting the two narrowest victories of the quarterfinals (assuming Minnesota extends its 5-1 lead in the third), they're the clear underdogs in the Frozen Four. :p

Yeah, not the closest QF round ever. Oh well. Congrats to the four.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

No one else needs it!

I don't think BC really needed it yesterday. The scores in all games were pretty one sided. A ho-hum quarterfinal round in terms of exciting competition.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Best four teams in the country remain though, and will play in the FF. Perfect.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

I would also speculate that many are pleased with a guaranteed East vs. West final.

Kinda nice, I admit.

I'm greedy. Yes, we'll get one East/West matchup. But if the bracket had slid one way or the other, we'd have at least two and maybe three. The players like the UM/UW games, but often, they are a touch underwhelming.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Normally I wouldn't be too thrilled with the East vs. East, West vs. West pairing either. But in the case you need the rubber match of Harvard-BC. And Minnesota-Wisconsin settles the split WCHA regular season title and WCHA postseason title, and they didn't play in the conference tournament. So in this case, I'm more fine with it than I ever will be.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

That's a good point, Dave.

I've said it already but having never been to one I am so excited to go to UM vs UW

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

By the way, for anyone who doesn't think that proximity plays a role in the matchups in the men's basketball tournament, look at the Midwest Regional. Kentucky, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Buffalo, and five teams from Indiana. Plus Wichita State and Kansas playing first and second round games in Omaha. The other regionals aren't as extreme (and what the hell the East and South regions having some first and second round games in Seattle I have no idea) but it's clearly a consideration.

The motivation is different there though. It's not because they don't want to fly the teams, but because they want the fan bases to be able to travel to the sites.

But they could have set it up East vs. West in the Semi's and you still would have got to see a UM vs UW game, you just would have had to let that excitement build until Sunday!

Unfortunately one game isn't enough to settle anything between the east and west. Just maybe that's part of the mystic?

Not sure you'll ever be able to settle that.

The only thing you are settling for sure is who is the champ for the season, and that is the reason they play that game, to determine the championship for the season.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

I would love to see east versus west in both semi final matches. That way if the west is indeed the superior conference as claimed, then we will get the best final possible. Otherwise it just seems like the NCAA is artificially propping up the east to give them a shot at a national championship that takes advantage of a one game format.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

You guys do know that the NCAA doesn't set up the Frozen Four semis right? It's entirely based on PWR, being 1v4 2v3.

Had BC won Hockey East we would be playing Wisconsin on Friday.
