2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Again, you have to enjoy the journey!! Back in 77, we went to the NCAA semi's losing to Eave's and Johnson's Badgers, 4-3 in OT....stung like a *****! But near 40 years out, those teammates are still some of my BFF in today's terms....yes, championship lost but I won much more in the end! For 99% of the women players, these four years will very special....don't impose ur standards on their efforts.....

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Is there not a Hockey East regular season champions trophy?.
Yeah, but, please lol.
This -- I'm not saying you have to WIN IT ALL every year, but you gotta win SOMETHING *this* year.
I don't get how you can be that dismissive of a championship that your team had never won until last year.

I'm with ARM, recognize your accomplishments and the work that went into it to achieve, not your failures.
Besides, it does not seem all that long ago that your "BC season Thread Title" said something like "We want to win anything, anything at all". Was that not just prior to last season. ?

It was "Can we have a title? Please?" Was referring to a natty, not any title at all. Could see how that would be lost in translation.

Listen, guys, we are going to have to agree to disagree. Half the national team plays for BC right now. To go undefeated for almost the entire season, only to have our three losses be 1) in the Beanpot title game, 2) in the Hockey East title game, and 3) in the NCAA tournament would be horrific underachievement by this team.

Again -- we may have to agree to disagree.

I love ya zoofer but this is crazy. No one is saying they shouldn't have fun and value their time together as teammates.

That doesn't mean I can't enjoy the season and then objectively say that what they've achieved relative to how much talent they have is a huge disappointment.

don't impose ur standards on their efforts.....
You're right, the team will probably be thrilled to come away empty handed.

I'm sure their standards are as high if not higher than mine.

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

Points debated well TTT! The key is for You to enjoy the journey as well....good luck this weekend....:)

I would qualify my previous remark by saying if BC loses in a close NCAA final to Minnesota or Wisconsin, can you say this team underachieved horrifically?

I mean this program has never won a Frozen Four game before. That would be an achievement.

But yes, failing to make the final with this bracket - then I share your view.

We aren't really on the same page -- it has nothing to do with this tournament specifically and everything to do with the season as a whole, all those wins but none in a meaningful game.

In a vacuum, advancing to the final and losing to Minnesota or Wisconsin is a pat-everyone-on-the-back-Okay-Good-Season-Everyone kind of season.

But for the season as a whole, to have ZERO losses all season EXCEPT in the Beanpot final, HEA Final, and NCAA final... come on, man.

Fixed your post, be afraid, be very afraid. ;)

No question, that's nasty and has to hurt! I'll just throw this out there and suggest that one way to break that heartbreaking pattern would be not wait for the final this time - just get it over with in the quarters or semi! ;) Just kidding, of course, but seriously if you HAD to pick which game to go out on, which would it be?

Definitely the quarter-final. ;)

Definitely the final, I'd rather not be depressed on Minneapolis all weekend lol

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

IMO, that's part of your problem here. Because there were so many BC kids on the U-22 roster last summer, you got the idea planted in your head that BC is so much more talented than any other team in the country. Carpenter and Skarupa will make any roster if they are healthy and the person picking the roster has a clue. Pfalzer will be on it as well, although it is always a little more hit and miss with D, because there are half as many spots as there are for forwards. Some of your other players will make some rosters and miss others at this point of their careers. Very talented, but the same is true of other top rosters as well. Sarah Nurse is on Wisconsin's third line and she is a goal explosion just waiting to happen.

But for the season as a whole, to have ZERO losses all season EXCEPT in the Beanpot final, HEA Final, and NCAA final... come on, man.
If that happens and you want to look at the best season in program history as a negative, I don't know what to tell you. I've watched both the Badgers and Bulldogs (twice) celebrate NCAA titles on the Gophers' home ice. You want to talk about disappointment …

Yes, it would hurt, but at least you'd know you were closer than you ever were before. Or maybe the Eagles WILL win, and you can go back to being the overly cocky TTT that you were for three months before reality hit. :p

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

TTT, I'm hoping that NCAA will be broadcasting the games, as I think I heard....that plus I'm convalescing from surgery,(almost over!) so online viewing is most attractive! Plus last years UNH Captain Nicole Gifford is playing with HC Lugano, with her playoff games streaming as well, although I just realized the time difference! Duh.....

There you go, set yourself up for an online quadruple header!

Re: 2015 Pairwise Discussion & Predictions

So if I may ask those who know, to get the streaming video, I go to NCAA.com? Getting psyched.....:)

The 2002-'03 Harvard Crimson team won over 30 games but failed to win the ECAC tournament final and lost in the Frozen Four final in OT to UMD. We did win the Beanpot that year but the competition wasn't very good back then.

That said, one could look back at that season and say that Harvard underachieved or 'failed' to deliver when it counted. To me, they still had a great season and at least got to the championship game which we had never done before under the NCAA umbrella.
