Castleton will only be known as Castleton or Castleton University. Not CU.

That is an incredible stretch, and the name has nothing to do with it. Dartmouth College is a highly ranked university.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. Castleton is still a state college, whether you call it a University or not.

I think the biggest thing Castleton was looking to get away from was the "State" moniker. College/University was second tier to that.

Not an incredible stretch, many scholar athletes will now see that possibly there are areas of study now available @ Castleton that they were probably unaware of before. It certainly takes them away from the Castleton State Teachers College that has been their albatross since the middle part of the last century.

You can recruit based on the programs you have, not the name of the school. I just don't see CSC as a University. Castleton College or the College at Castleton would be more descriptive. But like I said, the name doesn't matter as much as what the institution really is. We seem to be seeing a lot of name inflation on the parts of schools lately. What are true Universities going to call themselves to distinguish themselves from pretenders like Castleton State College, New Hampshire College, Western New England College, Neumann College, Plymouth State College, etc. Will they take the name Megaversity? Norwich Megaversity, State Megaversity of Plattsburgh?

I know the North Dakota nickname is primarily a DI issue but I thought some of the die-hard DIII guys might have some ideas for them. Honestly with choices as terrible as Sundogs, Roughriders, Nodaks, Fighting Hawks and North Stars they even make the trinity fighting chickens look tough. One thing I will say if they go with roughriders they better steal the Teddy Roosevelt mascot from the Washington Nationals.

Neumann needs a head coach as Dawes was named head at Stevenson.

I wonder if he will "forget" you have to make sure you don't give out more 49% of your financial aid to your athletes to help build a program and win a championship....yea yea yea I know...he had no idea what goes on.... :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: maybe he will hold it below 90% this time around....progress...its all about progress....

TIC..and yes Dawes wasn't there for the majority of it....

When I was reading the article about Dawes hire at Stevenson, the first thing I thought was "Remy is going to have something to say about this..." :p
