UNE is joining the new Commonwealth Coast Conference in 2016-17. They are full members of it already and now the conference is adding hockey. It's basically the current ECAC Northeast with the addition of UNE and Endicott.

Stay tuned for more details soon on Norwich's conference future.

I believe the NCAA rule pertaining to this states that if 6 or more teams have been playing together in an AQ conference, and break off to a new conference, they get/retain the AQ. That's how the NCHC was able to have an AQ instantly.

The D-I gang broke off a few years back. Maybe the benefits outweighed the cost of leaving.

Joining Southern Maine in the NEHC will be Norwich, Babson, University of Massachusetts-Boston, New England College, Skidmore, Castleton, Saint Michael’s and Saint Anselm.

That's 9, which makes an uneven weekend. I suppose you could travel to USM for 2 in year 1 and have USM in your barn for 2 in year 2.

But there is always the MASCAC - LEC partnership looming on the horizon.

Anybody want to take bets on weather the ECAC West stays with the West name or just goes ECAC

Perhaps not uneven for long...... St. Mikes may not be long for this......
