Yeah that's a pretty poor loss... Harvard's been all over the place so far.Special thanks to Harvard for blowing all sorts of holes in my "compelling match-up argument".I will not rank you the rest of the year.

Good to see the 3rd and 4th line getting all that ice time. But from just looking at the box score (did not see the game) the first line looks to have been devastating, especially considering their reduced ice time. Question: was the 2nd line not at their best? I see out of the 11 goals scored they only got one of them.MN 11- BSU 1 SOG 26-17 (though it appeared the scorekeeper fell asleep for long stretches)
Gopher 4th line got a workout yesterday. Perhaps the earliest I have seen them, about 1/2 through the 1st period. Most of the 3rd MN played 2 lines, 3 and 4. I'm not sure I have ever felt as sorry for an opponent. Mankato had a very young team last year but there were signs that they might get better. I believe they still have more freshmen this year but I didn't see anything to build with.
It really isn't. Don't think UMD looks anything like the Bulldogs you saw that had all of two weeks with a new coach. How long did it take for BC to start to click after Katie took over? And she'd already been on staff.Yeah that's a pretty poor loss... Harvard's been all over the place so far.
I wasn't there, but I did watch the archive last night. The second line didn't get its normal amount of ice time, and one of the ways it has success is it just wears teams out trying to chase them around. It looked like Pannek's line had a harder time getting into a rhythm getting out there less often. It did have the game's first even-strength goal, and by the time it got out there again, the score was 3-0 before the midway part of the first period, and I just don't think the intensity is the same.Question: was the 2nd line not at their best? I see out of the 11 goals scored they only got one of them.

Going into the game, I expected Harvard to be a bit more impressive than it was. However, UMD had improved a lot from the team I saw at the end of October. The first line I saw yesterday would be able to play against anyone, and I don't think they had been together prior to the series in Grand Forks.
I think it is loss, singular. They've only lost once since Crowell put the top line together, and that, along with goaltending, is what enabled the Bulldogs to win. Harvard is still deeper, so if UMD's top line doesn't dominate, then I think Harvard takes the rematch.I'll defer to your expertise on UMD, I haven't seen them since they played BC, so if they've been looking better in their losses so be it.
Oh I'm not mad about that -- I was actually debating with myself before the game whether it would be a good or bad thing if UMD beat Harvard because it would be helpful to have them as a TUC.I'm not sure why you are mad. It isn't like Harvard losing to UMD hurts BC, since you play both of them.
I only saw one of those four games, but UMD actually played well in the one that I saw and had a 2-0 lead halfway through. The Bulldogs just aren't as deep. If they were, then maybe BC doesn't get the win in the second game. I don't think Minnesota is going to have an easy time of it in Duluth in February.Oh I'm not mad about that -- I was actually debating with myself before the game whether it would be a good or bad thing if UMD beat Harvard because it would be helpful to have them as a TUC.
I'm mad that UMD seems to play like crap against the two teams it would actually help us if they beat lol

I avoided responding to this post hoping that your WCHA SUPAHSTAHZ would fall flat on their face today to do the talking for me and they did not disappoint. There seem to be big doings in the WCHA this year. While it's the same story with the top two teams - Wisconsin and Minnesota sit above the rest of the conference - Bemidji, No Dak, and UMD have improved to the point where they might be sitting at or near the top if they were in the ECAC or Hockey East.
The rematch of Harvard and UMD today will give us even more info. If UMD does it again, and assuming no surprises from Dartmouth, one might rethink the rankings and reshuffle to something like this... 1. Wisc 2. Minn 3. BC 4. Bemidji 5. No Dak 6. UMD.
Now that would be amazing. Big game today, that's all I can say.
