2015-2016 Division I Commitments

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Commitments

True. Actually kind of sad. Program Director threw aside a talented long time program player to make a spot for her, she played there a year or two, and then dumped them and went back to Canada.

Happened to the kid of a friend of mine although not with Assabet. This stuff happens especially in highly competitive programs. I'm sure the long time program player will get offers from schools despite getting tossed aside. Or she can try Scott Fusco's new league that is growing and looking for talented players.

Maine definitely starting to attract higher level recruits.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Commitments

Yes so sad ! Who was that poor player? Is she going to play DI? So sad

Huh?

Anyway - mis-remembered - there were actually 2 long time program members that got tossed aside for Tse, who then dumped Assabet after a year or two (heard authoritatively that the family did not like the coaching staff there and their treatment of the players, although she did also leave Westminster at the same time so there may have been other factors at play). One of the discarded players is playing D3. I understand the other will be playing D1 hockey next season.

From what I heard there were a couple of...."explosive" tirades directed at the Assabet teams from their coaches this weekend at the Wizards tournament. Looks like the U16's didn't even make the quarterfinal round or win a game all weekend. When is the last time any Assabet team went 4 games without winning at least 1? Can't happen very often.

Lies Lies and more lies.. Don't let facts get in the way here. She left Assabet and Westy at the same time so she could play for team Canada. Had to play 2 seasons or she would not have been eligible for the Canadian U-18 team. Kaitlin sent me a message on FB when she committed thanking me for all that Assabet and I had done to help her reach her goals.
Are you saying we cut 2 girls to get Tse on the roster? LOL I guess we needed 2 roster spots for her. She must have been good! So your saying we should have cut Tse and kept the DIII player simply because of longevity?

There were 3 girls vying for the one spot on the top team. Obviously 1 of the 2 would have lost out even if Tse had not been there - they forfeited their spot on the second team and moved on. Tse was 14 and it was a 16 year old team so she was playing up which was part of the arrangement for her to play at Assabet. As I noted, there may have been other factors at work such as the Canada U18 team thing - although I am surprised to hear that playing in Canada is a requirement to be eligible for the Canadian team - not the case that I am aware of in other countries. The family did not like the head coach's (not you) approach to the players. I'm sure you got a nice e-mail from Kaitlin - she is a great kid.

My point is that it was sad that two long time program kids were discarded for a new kid who spent 1 or 2 years with Assabet and then bailed. Relax.

Edit: Now I'm confused - I looked at the Canadian U18 roster. I see Tse on the roster - good for her. I also see that there is a player who plays for Northwood on it - why is she eligible if Tse would not have been?

LOL I am very relaxed, seriously. This board is source of amusement for me.

There is no requirement to be playing in Canada to make Team Canada. Else, how would Canada ever field a U-22 team with non-NCAA players. While CIS might be an OK league the top players in CIS could never compete against America's finest.

Alternatively, there remains a requirement to play in Ontario to make any Team Ontario team, unlike every other province, as Ontario is governed by the OWHA. Interesting that all provinces in Canada have a provincial logo on their provincial teams uniforms, while Ontario has OWHA on it and not Ontario. Players must play for an OWHA team in the province of Ontario try out for Team Ontario U-18 or any Team Ontario event, like the Ontario Winter Games. This may have been her concern because players cannot play for Team Canada if they don't make their respective provincial team at the U-18 level. She did make Team Ontario U-18 this year.

In short, if she lived in any province besides Ontario it would not make a difference.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Commitments

You hate us because we beat you or cut you. (well your daughter) Happy New Year.

no, never been cut from Assabet. won some lost some. people hate Assabet because the parents think they are at a place where they and their kids are better than everyone else. it filters up to the parents and you end up getting these kinds of posts.

I couldn't stand Assabet until I understood that everyone's in it for the same reason...to get their daughter to the next level. I've had my share of problems with some of the parents at u10,u12,and even u14...but once you realize that everyone is in it for the same reason it got easier to deal with. as in any sport, its the parents (me included) that need to grow up and have a thick skin.

Don't get me wrong though...I still hope Assabet loses every game they play from u8 to u19. I just don't have to yell it out to the Assabet parents at the rink or write it on a forum anymore.

Happy New Year to all players and parents...even Assabet.

not surprising that you would read it that way. not better than everyone else...at a better place (Assabet) than everyone else.
we all know the only people that think they're better than everyone else are in a different conference.

Happy New Year to you and your family.
