2015-2016 Division I Commitments

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Commitments

QUOTE=D2D;6161123]You would think their coaches would have at least one player from New York, or from someplace in New England.[/QUOTE]

I wonder: they're really remote from the rest of New York and New England, closer to big population centers (centres?) like Montreal and Ottawa than to even the nearest part of New England (Burlington Vermont). In that light, I don't have too much trouble giving them a pass on this matter. It's not like when Pennsylvania started a short-lived (but successful) men's team in the 70s with all Canadians.

Am I missing something? They had 22 on the roster, article says they're losing 4 and adding 10, including 2 tenders. So that brings them to 28 including 4 goalies. So 1 goalie and 6 skaters won't dress every game?? Whoa!!!

It's a little game called keep away. Looks like 16/17 and 17/18 recruits will also be affected by the bloated roster.

Couple more to BC:

Serena Sommerfield ........... F/D .......... (Choate Rosemary Hall) ................ (Not sure where from)
Erin Connolly ............D...........(Rivers School)...............(Not sure where from)

Anyone know anything about these two? Or any of the others for that matter.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Commitments

Sommerfield is from Kent, CT, I believe. She played D on the Mid-Fairfield Stars U19 team that beat Assabet and took first at the Wizards tournament last season. At Choate she began at forward and then moved back to D (Choate had a very small roster during 2014-2015 - basically 2.5 lines).

She's a good all around player but nothing that really stands out that will enable her to make an impact as a freshman. I suppose the coaching staff will first need to decide whether they want to develop her as a forward or as a defenseman. Once they do that, she should be able to contribute something by soph/junior year.

Prior to Choate, Sommerfield lived in Illinois and played at CYA. I've seen her occasionally since then. She was a really good younger player, and I think she probably would have been CYA's best defenseman coming out this year (edit: besides Hartman). When I watched her a year ago, she had really gotten taller, but still looked fairly skinny. I'd agree with previous poster that she probably won't get too much playing time on BC as a Freshman, but she is good enough to play regularly at 15-20 other D1 schools as a Freshman. She will contribute as she gets older. She was a great kid, and she probably isn't using up any of BC's athletic aid. $;)$

Haven't seen her play in a year or so. Prior to that Connolly was a pretty talented player who was average to above average size and played solid defense, but she had a temper and tended to take bad penalties at bad times during games - saw her cost her teams a few games over the years with poor choice penalties late in games. She was an Assabet product. I don't think she'll be a major contributor at BC, at least early on, but time will tell.

Re: 2015-2016 Division I Commitments

It looks like Ms. Storms from Moorhead should let UWRF know that she changed her mind.
From the River Falls page -
Brianna Storms G Moorhead, MN 2.25 (GAA) .934 (S%)

SCSU's renovation of the HBC...nice little DI rink that's on campus.
I know it's not a recent update, but was looking at pics today. Very nice locker rooms.
