2015-2016 Coaching Changes

Umm..... what am I missing? Wasn't Maurice the guy who was let go along with Handrahan by Ohio State for inappropriate conduct (sexual harassment) which he condoned? In what world is this a "great hire" for Trinity? What does it say about Trinity's respect for its players?

Also - what is the deal with Ohio State and Trinity. First OSU hired Carson Duggan from Trinity as an Assistant. Then 2 years later they hired her replacement Jenny Potter as Head Coach. Now Trinity hires the fired OSU assistant as their Head Coach. What is the connection?

I'm with you on this one. Plus Duggan was the assistant coach that showed up with Handrahan late for a flight and smelling of booze according to that article that was linked here somewhere. How and why was she retained?

There has been some seriously weird juju in the women's hockey hirings this year!

Where are the female coach hires? With the increased number of women playing, don't you think that I here are some good female candidates available out there?

I agree with you. Is it possible female former players just aren't interested in getting into coaching as much anymore?

At least one (Sarah Erickson) left the college coaching ranks and took the high school coaching route so she could start a family and be at home.

The NESCAC has 6 women head coaches out of the 9 hockey playing schools in the conference. 4 of the 6 women played NESCAC hockey.

don't try to obscure the discussion with facts, these people live in a Utopia where only feelings count (and only theirs, not yours)

You have to remember there are some people here who think there shouldn’t be ANY male coaches of women’s teams, while at the same time expecting men to foot the bill for the enormous monetary losses of women’s college hockey.

Presumably, these people believe men should support the women’s pro league by buying tickets, but they’d prefer men do not attend the games. They want men to invest in the league, but have no say in its operation.

It make me wonder if that isn’t the reason for the NWHL, PO’d there is a guy is at the top of the org chart of the CWHL, so the east coast womyn had to start their own league.

Re: 2015-2016 Coaching Changes

Interesting. Where did the long time former assistant go ?

Are you talking about Turner's husband PNC? He's still there. Just go to their website. I'd say if she fired him there would also be a divorce! I think her first coaching job was as his grad assistant when he was the Elmira women's coach.

Re: 2015-2016 Coaching Changes

Maybe Mark hired Rammer, Pav, Brats, Mac, O.C or Strobs. Too bad Bahs' not available.

Just visited the UW Eau Claire website and saw they hired their men's assistant hockey coach as their new women's hockey coach. I guess nobody applied that had previous experience coaching women's hockey. ;) Looks like another hire of convenience. I don't remember seeing an announcement about this. Was there one? I can't even find an announcement on their website either.

Are you guessing or do you know no one else applied? It is on the website, found it immediately. Why do you state of convenience? He has experience, does everyone believe it needs to be women's hockey experience?

I was being sarcastic, to answer your first question. I also stated I saw it on their website, but it's good that you found it too I suppose. It's of convenience because he was already employed there so no need to waste money bringing other applicants to campus to interview. He has no experience in women's hockey so strictly speaking he is not more qualified than any other possible applicants that had women's hockey experience. In the end it's an historically crappy program so it probably doesn't matter to administration if they have any sort of success. It didn't matter to them under the first coach. It won't matter to them under the new coach either.

People applied - when they found out it was paying about $17,000 they all bolted. By all, I mean around 3 applicants.
