2014-2015 University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs Womens Hockey

Not sure who the Gophers top assistant is. Do folks believe that person was not considered or that they would not have taken the job...

Success often rubs off...and I think its easier to pick up Canadian recruiting than to get an inside on Minnesota recruiting.

Sisti has been able to draw top Canadians to Mercyhurst. One would think that he could be as successful at a school like UMD with its winning tradition. he has to be the front runner unless dollars get in the way.

Some Canadian AND American Mercy recruits will be very disappointed if Sisti leaves Mercy. He was a big selling feature.

...plus if the players have any say in the matter they could be in her corner as well.

Right. I think most people realize that's just for appearances.

In my original post note that I used the word "if". Why? Because I didn't know if the players had a voice, and I still don't. So I guess I don't fall into the "most people" group. Although you could be right in saying the players have zero input into the decision, which by the way would make their representation on the committee a total farce, I'm left to wonder: how can you be so sure? If you're an insider that really does know, then you must also know which of the three candidates the players would like to see get the job, despite them not having any say?

Insider? Not quite -- just one of those sports diehards who feels like he sees all the angles. And I have no idea who the players prefer. I just know from years of observing hires from major college football to small school soccer, the plan is to hire a coach that will still be in the chair long after the current players graduate.

Many departments include payers on search committees across pretty much every sport, but the weight said student-athletes carry in the decision-making process is typically just for show. At the end of the day department administrators are going to make their decision regardless of whatever input is given by current players.

"Then again...who wouldn't want to get the h e l l out of drErie?"

What do you know about our town? So you may have been here in 2011 but i lived here all of my life and I like it here. 14 miles of waterfront, good fishing, skiing, sports, 90 minutes from Cleveland, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. Nice people and a relatively low cost of living. Hell we are enjoying our waterfront and everything that goes with it before Minny is thawed.

just sayin'

I have been to Erie numerous times and have to say that it is a decent place. No better or worse than other cities its size in the US or Canada.

Well I know that fishing and hunting are something most female hockey players love to do when the season ends. Fun! Better stock up on the camo and leeches.

Yeah...I'm gonna pass on drErie as a vacation destination. My thanks to the drErie tourism office, just the same.

I've been in Erie several times over the years. Not sure if it is still there, but there used to be an amusement park there many years ago. They have great lake front areas and beaches, and right along a major highway, so easy to get to. Town is not all that different from some medium sized towns in the mid west.
