Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

Brooky's right. This had nothing to do with the goalies. They weren't great but they weren't the ones losing every battle for the puck, letting Gopher forwards get behind them, and generating no offense at all. Given that they have some good results I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me that the entire team had food poisoning. They were that bad today.

I sprung for the 3-games-for-$10 and watched most of it. Minnesota really looked great -- but it still makes me scratch my head why MacDonald is not getting more ice time.

Given that SLU got most of their SOG in the third, long after it mattered it would be grossly unfair to blame the netminder. FOr a team that was rated #8 I was more than a bit surprised.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

In addition to being in attendance tonight I watched the webstream of the game last night in Mankato. Last night Saint Lawrence seemed clearly better than Mankato.

Of course, based on results from a month or so ago Minnesota also seems clearly better than Mankato. As in fact does every team that Mankato has played so far this season. So being better than Mankato wasn't enough, at least tonight, for Saint Lawrence.

Having had a game since the break helped less for Saint Lawrence than it probably hurt from being the team playing its second game in less than 24 hours. The Gophers were better from the very beginning but after only a bit of time they were also clearly a lot fresher.

Still I thought Saint Lawrence showed a lot of stuff that has a possibility of being successful against the middle and lower tier teams of the league that they play in. For example, they did have a lone breakaway and a ringing blast off the pipe. Geez, come on, it could have very easily been 10-1.

Saint Lawrence gets another chance on Tuesday. I expect that game to be closer.

Where is MacDonald??

9-0 now. This is why SLU is so inconsistent, their backup goalies are freaking terrible.

TTT, IMO the only freaking terrible thing was your comment about the goalies being freaking terrible. They rarely play and then have to play the Gophers. I believe the starter in today's game posted 22 saves while only allowing 1 goal in their game vs Minnesota State two days ago, getting the win. Good for her! As for the other goalie, coming into a game cold in the 3rd period when you are already down 6-0 and your team has lost all hopes of winning is not easy, the Gophs at this point having the luxury of patience and making their shots count. Consideration for the circumstances....

Final 5-1 MN over SLU. The Gophers looked like they were the ones that had played 3 games in 4 days. SLU picked their speed up a bit but MN looked . . . disinterested. Passes were slow & sloppy. despite something like 30-14 SOG at the end of 2 MN was only up 2-0. Many of the shots were not the high quality of Sundays. The Saint scored early in the 3rd and MN answered with 2 quick scores. the 5th was an empty netter.

Early on the goal parade has begun 2-1 BU about 7 and a half minutes in the first period.

Re: 2014-2015 Division I Scores & Results Thread

3-2 BU after 1.

3 goals on 3 shots. Can we fly Burt back right now from Buffalo?
Four shots; the one she stopped was the one she looked the shakiest on. How is Lefort? Just my opinion, but it is kind of poor taste to play, "We're Not Gonna Take It" when an opponent is laying on the ice injured.

End of one BU leads 3-2...Seriously does BC just think offense all the time because they got burned pretty bad with multiple players pinching in the offensive zone.

3 officially according to the live box -- BC's scoreboard is unofficial. But I know exactly what shot you're talking about.

They say that defense wins championships, and your goaltender is definitely your primary defender. ;)
Our primary defender is in Buffalo right now, so.

Throwing the backup into the fire for her first start I guess. I wonder if they come out with the other one in the 2nd.

Last year's national championship game was played with the two goalies who had the most minutes played in the country. Going in to the Frozen Four I was wondering if Leveille got hurt if the Gophers would have played Sletta or if they would have pulled Peters' red shirt.
