2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Minnesota should certainly be infinitely familiar with getting their opponents maximum, best effort and prepared for that. I'm sure that's what they'll get from North Dakota making for the toughest match up and hardest fought contest yet with UND in 2012-2013. I agree with comments from Noora in the recent St. Paul Pioneer Press column regarding the formidable and dangerous UND offense. Shelby Amsley-Benzie playing the best I've seen her play in recent games. No miracle for UND to win it. It'll be a war.

I really wish the the game were at 5pm CT, 6pm EST. We won't be done with the BU - Clarkson game until 5 earliest, and that doesn't give us much time to spark up the nearest computer. Saturday out here is looking like a leisurely drive to Chestnut Hill, followed by a speedy drive across town to Babcock Street, find parking, see the last two periods at BU(or more if traffic and parking are smooth - yeah right!) , then another mad rush to pick up the Minny - UND game. An hour buffer would have been so much easier!

Rent a limo....Get dropped of at the door, picked up at the door to go to next event, again no parking hassles...Not saying it would be cheap, but you would be catered to :D

I'm smelling a pre-ordained excuse...
No, it was just a message to UND fans that we get that they have a good team. Those who are ignorant of that fact can choose to remain so if they wish.

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Ok maybe not a miracle, but a distant underdog. Anything can happen and its 0-0 still- That's an upside! I do believe UW should have been no. 8 and und should have been on the hosting bubble not the tournament bubble. especially looking at SOS (see: Mercyhurst 36th/39 SOS).
If UND wants to host, then they need to improve their record vs TUC. An under .500 record against TUC means they should be on the road. SOS means nothing regarding hosting.

"So the Gophers can't simply show up and expect to sail into the semifinals. This could be as tough of an opponent for them as any in the field."

Couldn't agree more!

If this was the Gophers Basketball or even Mens Hockey I might be worried about players reading the press clipping and getting ahead of themselves....but the team has been so well grounded during this season.

Have tickets for Saturday, looking forward to a great game!

Go Gophers!!!

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

I wonder if the coaches imposed a media ban on the players as of 12:00 Noon CT today...no phones, I-pads etc. so as to force focus and/or to eliminate distractions as much as possible...meaning, most importantly, among other things, who cares what is happening or has happened in the other three games?...it doesn't matter.

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

GAME ON!!! And what a game! UND 1 - UM 1 after one. SOG UND 16 - UM 7 !!!!!!!

Never seen UND play this well. Idalski has worked some magic so far.

Other than the first goal in the first minute of play it's been all UND.

By far (as in light years) the best game today...hopefully it continues at full throttle for the next two periods.

If it does and if the winner plays the same way next Friday, I say BC gets crushed, with all due respect to them.

Forgot to mention...bad move by Bozek at the end of the period to take an undisciplined penalty in the offensive zone.

And it just cost UM at the beginninig of the second period.

Questionable major penalty end of the second on MN. Definitely a two. Letting a lot of play go and then eject a player for that.

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

2:2 barn-burner after 2. Great interview Arlan in the second intermission.

Watching this on CBSSports.com. When the camera is on the Ridder video screen, the image is better than when the camera is following the play. I am almost longing for the old Fox Puck Tracker.

Looks like this game could go for a while.
