2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

None that involve a possible national champ?

Great line...hopefully, it doesn't come back to haunt you.
I... don't get it?

And yes I'm in London, still keeping up with the goings-on in the world of women's hockey though. Going to Florence on Thursday.

Heading to Brighton tomorrow, but unfortunately this one is quite a bit farther from BC than my junior year apartment.

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Yeah, I'm aware that we're both in the invisible/non existent bracket although I have previously undisclosed (except for his) leanings towards some other teams thereby allowing me to spread the love around...when convenient. Who knows?...if there were a 12 or 14 team field our teams might be squaring off...and I might be somewhat torn.

But what I meant by "haunt" was if UM or UND don't win the Frozen Four...as per his post. Couldn't stop laughing at his response.

As ARM said unfortunately it won't be able to haunt me. Though if my team were in it I would know for sure the winner would be in this matchup (as the 8).

Part of me wants the East to finally win but honestly I am willing to wait at this point for it to be NU. If bc does it TTT would be beyond unbearable for all of eternity.

Also it would be cool to see Minny go undefeated historically, though I would have loved to see NU get a crack at them. Not that I would have seriously believed we would win but who knows weirder things have happened.

Glad I could give you a laugh though.

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Ok, here's my imaginary 2013 Women's Hockey NIT bracket

1. Wisconsin
8. Syracuse

4. UMD
5. St. Lawrence

2. Northeastern
7. Quinnipiac

3. Ohio State
6. Dartmouth

Seeds are based on some combination of KRACH/Rutter/Massey and recent conference tournament beatdowns for OSU/UMD seeding. The RPI was completely disregarded and hated. Intraconference matchups were avoided as much as possible. Syracuse gets the CHA autobid. We do things better than the NCAA here.

There are a couple of GREAT quarter-finals, very interesting looking semi-finals, and a who knows final that might provide lots of information about east versus west. Looks like a great tournament.

His reply to the previous post implied, no, make that "stated", that he didn't think any teams other than UM and maybe UND had any chance of becoming the national champ. (And that would include the horse that you have in the race).

I simply meant, by my response to him, that if he was wrong and someone other than UM or UND became the national champ that he might have some apologizing to do...to the fans of the eventual winning team, if not also to that team itself.

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Too bad Llanes and Pickett are graduating.

Sad days on St. Botolph St.

Not to knock UND but I was really hoping to not see a 6th meeting between teams especially since they all went one way. But they earned it.

And no apologizing would be needed, it would be chalked up as an errant opinion from the loon in the balcony with the obnoxiously loud voice. :p

Thanks, for some reason it didn't click for me. Total brain freeze. I blame the jet lag.

That reminds me, there is a St. Botolph Street here in London; we went by it on the bus:

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Miracles can and do happen.
This wouldn't qualify as a miracle. UND is one of the top teams in the country; it just took them a few games to get going. A team like BC can do that and still wind up hosting, but NoDak didn't have that luxury. Of the five meetings, UND has been in four of them late in the third period. It isn't like the previous meeting ended up 10-3.

That's why interconference games in the opening round are good for the tournament. If a league like the WCHA is overrated, then its teams get spanked right off the bat and the rest of the country can have a nice, peaceful tournament without having to deal with any of them. But if the strength of a league has been disguised, then it can be better revealed over time if there are a lot of games versus other leagues when the games matter most.

Ok maybe not a miracle, but a distant underdog. Anything can happen and its 0-0 still- That's an upside! I do believe UW should have been no. 8 and und should have been on the hosting bubble not the tournament bubble. especially looking at SOS (see: Mercyhurst 36th/39 SOS).

SOS might be the call on Saturday.
