2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

Re: 2013 NCAA Quarterfinal: North Dakota @ Minnesota

I'll admit that I did not see it, so cannot judge if it was late or not, or how severe it was. Often during scrums in front of the net that result in a goal a player may not realize the puck has gone in, or that the play is over, so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt

Do not recall seeing anyone laying on the ice after the goal was scored. All I saw was a celebration. If there was indeed a player laying on the ice hurt after the game, then yes, by all means it should be discussed/dealt with by the refs/discipline committee if a foul was committed.

I recall in a tournament final many years ago, a player scoring an empty netter and then getting cross checked into the cross bar by the trailing player as time expired. In that case the offending player got 8 games and the player cross checked into the cross bar was finished for the season with a concussion, so it was dealt with properly. I would hope that if an infraction is severe enough, the refs would deal with it.

My point in the previous post was more about. You won, celebrate that fact, rather than rubbing it in to a team that gave it their all in a great game and lost.

Here is a link to the video, it is about halfway through. #10 gold gets crosschecked by #4 black

Off immediate topic...watched it several times...looks like Terry never touched the puck...it rolled into the net before she brought her stick down to the ice but I couldn't make out who the UM forward was to SAB's left that should have been credited with the goal. The first digit of her two digit jersey was a "1".

I think it's 15...Rachael Bona.

Typical Lashomb. After having played them six times I will tell you this is NOTHING out of the ordinary, she's not the only one, and kudos to UM. Laying it all out there six games knowing stuff like that will occur over and over.

From where I stand, I get the distinct impression that this team could give a rat's *** about individual credit. Which is one of many reasons that makes them very special and very likely to take home the hardware. As much as I have a obligations to NOT cheer for Goldy, this team is really making it hard to do that.

I think it's pretty clear by the way way the rest of the team reacts, who scored the goal. Number 5 deserves 5....at least....is she a senior? Cowardly unsportsmanlike act, especially with the hoofing of the stick afterwards; shows her intention. Having said that, I've seen the recipient do similar things in the past. It might be all good. The better team won, and that's all that matters at this point, as long as she's ok.

Most importantly is that #10 be healthy for next weekend. Towards the end of the video, you can see her hunched over and struggling a bit from the cross-check. Hopefully it was nothing more than just having the wind knocked out of her...

Don't let the Brookster hear you say that.

As for the team I think that you are right, but as for Goldy, well, now we're treading in deep if not murky waters. He's a bit of a s%#t disturber don't you know? Got his nose broken a couple of years ago by a mild mannered university professor, if I recall correctly, who let it be known that he had a great right cross when Goldy had irritated him enough by continually blocking his view to the game.

I can't imagine that she would have participated in the post-game press conference if she had been injured.

I know of at least one GWH fan who is of the same opinion and has made his thoughts on the subject well-known. (Eeyore)

I agree with Candace that there should be some sort of sanction on LaShomb (perhaps having to sit for ND's opening game next fall) for her cross-check on Kelly Terry. I'm not sure even the not so saintly Saint Jarrin' John Bailey would have taken that cheap shot at the end of a game. He may have split an opposing player's head open with his stick or fist in the 3rd period to get the crowd charged up, but not after the game was already over. Other than that, it was very exciting to be at Ridder last Saturday. In fifty years or so of watching hockey I've never seen a game where two teams seemed to leave everything they had on the ice any more than that. Well, there was that state bantam tournament up in Hibbing in 1962, but that's another story. One last thought, this time concerning the two players formerly known as the "traitor twins." Well, at least considered that by a few ND fans we saw at Engelstad arena in December of 2009. You two have been fun to watch both in cheering for you for two years and against you for three. A somewhat left-handed thank you for making the North Dakota hockey program better because competitive hockey is always more fun to watch. Now, if my alma mater Mankato can just get going. I wonder if wearing my very old purple and white jersey under my Gopher sweatshirt would help. Definitely not and it wouldn't fit anyway.
