2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

FastHockey.com will be showing a lot of the games. They showed the gold medal game for free last year but you have to pay for most of the games. That was the only way I could see the games online last year - I think TSN is blocked for everybody in the USA unless your last name is Gretzky :)

I would not be surprised if the Gold medal game ended up on the NHL network

Representing the Bulldogs:
Wonder where our Finns are?
Saara Tuominen - knee injury. Has not played since graduated from UMD.
Heidi Pelttari - has played this season for ILVES Tampere in women national league. Retired from national team due to lack
of motivation.
Noora Jaakkola - Not in IIHF 2013 roster. Played last season in HPK Hameenlinna in women national league.

Wonder where our Finns are?

Erika Holst is not on the roster given on the Swedish site. Is this a case of carelessness by whoever entered the info, or is she really not playing? I don't speak Swedish and can't find any info anywhere.

Hope this is a mistake as I will be in Ottawa for all the games and she is one of the main people I want to see. Plus I have last years jersey that needs an autograph.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

www.fasthockey.com will have the games for free, I checked before and you do not have to buy the games ( any tournament run by hockey Canada are free) so that's what I will be doing all next week.

I'll definitely have to go the FastHockey.com route. I have the DirecTV sports package and still don't get TSN. Woof. Wish we could get TSN down here!

I believe that the only players without NCAA experience from Canada's roster are goalies Szabados and Labonté, and forwards Hefford and Wickenheiser. So I guess the answer is 19.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Northeastern:

Switzerland: Florence Schelling, Julia Marty (both Alumnus)

USA: Kendall Coyne

Czech Republic: Lucie Povova

Hopefully NU will be well represented on the podiums in Ottawa. Look forward to seeing a few of you at the games, I am currently waiting at Logan for my flight.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Cool - you are correct mn0733. I just logged onto fasthockey.com and it looks like all of the games are free this year. Sweet!

NU DogHouse - I'll be listening for your goal chants from afar. I'll be disappointed if I don't hear you at least once.

NUWH DogHouse , Does NU go into Idle next season because Coyne might make the Olympic roster ? She and Picket were 75% of the offense and
most of the defense ? Does Coyne come back after the year Off ? or does she try to go to a NCAA contender?

Northeastern was one game away from being an NCAA contender this year. I don't know why you'd suggest that she'd jump ship.

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

I talked to Kelley Steadman's father, and she has made the USA team. Kelley graduated from Mercyhurst in 2012 and played for the Boston Blades in 2012-2013.

It all depends on the atmosphere. And I would only do it if Lucie, Julia or Kendall scores. And if Florence scores I will absolutely go nuts and you will be hearing me even if you aren't watching.

I don't see any reason she isn't in Russia unless she gets hurt which would stop her from playing for us anyways, but she comes back afterwards. Nothing she has ever said to me or I have heard about her suggests she leaves. NU has been very much in contention the last two years.

And as for us going idle, everyone is losing their big guns. Over in Newton TTT will be hurting and the other comm ave school won't be much better off. Will it be a struggle with out Coyne and Pickett yes (Also the Llanes loss is huge, her points dropped simply because the other two got so many) but we had a solid 2 lines behind them and our D is almost untouched plus we get Hampton back. She missed the second half of the season and could've been the difference in Hyannis.

Since when has atmosphere been a factor? Just be careful, we don't want a repeat of the providence game...
And root for them for the both of us, I wish I was there cheering too!!

Re: 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship

Certainly not hoping for a repeat of the first US vs Canada game last year...the big blow out...the Canadian snooze fest. Although my guess is that there may be a few who are.
