2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

No more 'Wozilroy'

Only a few days after sending out wedding invitations, golfer Rory McIlroy broke off his engagement to Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki on Wednesday.

Uncomfortable and subdued, the two-time major winner spoke about the decision ahead of the BMW PGA Championship, only a few hours after first announcing the split in a statement.

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

You know I spent all winter working on my driver and this spring it hasn't panned out all that well. My drives are still too short for my liking and too often go somewhere else besides where I aim them. It's pretty frustrating. Heck, I'm hitting my new 3 hybrid almost as far as my driver. It's driving me CRAZY!

Re: 2013 Golf Season - Does it leave you scratching?

Until I can afford a driver I want, I've been using my 3-wood and consistently hitting it 250-270 in the fairway. I'd like to add some length with a 1, but I can't complain about setting myself up with short irons this often. If only my wedge game were worth a **** when I miss the green.

Sounds like you have some things figured out on the tee. If you can hit the fairway 260 out with a 3, why use a driver for anything but the par 5s?

And what driver are you looking at?

77 this morning. No doubles, but only one birdie--a bunch of 7-10 footers missed. I hurt a rib muscle last time out and had to ease back on the swing, which probably helped.

To be honest I haven't really looked too much yet. Something obnoxiously oversized though I'm sure.

I got an Adams 9064LS driver on Monday. Bought it from a seller on GolfWRX.com for $50. I've added 30+ yards over my old Adams BUL and in two rounds this week I shot 88 & 86 after shooting in the mid to upper 90s all spring.

Coincidence? I think not. It has a jumbo grip which I'm going to leave on for the time being. All my other clubs have midsize grips.

The classifieds on GolfWRX are great for bargains on tour quality equipment.

Just got a tee time at Erin Hills. Going with my dad a couple days before my wedding. I will get destroyed on this course, but I think we'll still enjoy it.

Our local muni has the senior tees at 6,400+ yards. That's longer than the Women's US Open Course. If I break 100 from those tees, I consider it a moral victory.

Good luck. I played Bethpage on the media day before the first open. I said afterward that I spent more time on the beach than Frankie and Annette! :D

Today was mookie's clubs 1st rd (of 4) club championship. I don't play in that top flight, but I did take the job this year of setting the cups and tees. What a toot!! Guys come in and yap about this pin and that. Made it a lot of fun. :)

So, did the little sadist in you come out and play?

Pin-setting is very interesting stuff, like art. I don't know who sets pins on the days I play our club this year, but I would bet my soul it's not the same person who was doing it most of the time last year. This person has a mischievous side to him and on some mornings is just ****ed off at the world. I look at some of those pins and think: Harsh toilet training.

I had two that were interesting. Many others I put in corners and edges that made someone thinking to aim for the middle...if you went pin seeking you brought potential bogey/double into play. But again two guys shot 71 so it wasn't impossible at all.
