Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat?

While the end of last night's game was not what you want to see, ever, at a college hockey game, let's take a step back for a second. This rivalry was at its peak in 2010-11, when both teams were on equal footing, and the quality of the games spoke for themselves. Right now, there's just nothing left for Union to gain by playing RPI. The success of Union's program over the past 3+ years speaks for itself, as does RPI's relative performance. At the end of the day, RPI can celebrate this well-earned win, which improved their record to 10-10-4, and had no bearing on the ECAC Hockey standings. RPI is in the midst of another mediocre season and this may be the high point, while Union has bigger goals in mind.

seeing that he didnt, it does not matter
ast coach shoved him while runninv his mouth than hid

both teams will move on. union should not aaste out of conference game with them going forward. waste of time

Typing skills, acquire them. I could not parse half of this, though what I could extract was, as usual, off topic and dodging the question.

Isn't it funny how when RPI had the upper hand in this rivalry, and RPI fans were saying it wasn't a rivalry if it's one sided, etc..Union fans ****ed and moaned that they were int he game too and don't look past them. Now that Union has the upper hand, a win by the Engineers is "insignificant," as "it hasn't been much of a rivalry over the past couple of years." Funny how that works.

i can help. i speak hoky.

he was saying that again, as he has already said, RB didn't punch a kid.
he said the rpi asst coach was mouthing off, and when RB came over to discuss this with said asst coach, the ***** ran and hid.
then hoky said that both teams will move on and forget it. stuff happens.
and finally hoky said that union gains nothing from wasting an ooc game with rpi. they should find better opponents to help themselves with tournament seedings.

hoky is fine. y'all need to lighten up and listen to what he has to say. we need more committed college hockey follower like hoky.

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat?

I am glad that AD Jim McLaughlin got ahead of the curve and didn't wait for the league to act, for that matter, Hagwell may feel the same way. Of course the league may go beyond that, but by taking the initiative he acknowledges that this is not acceptable and will not be condoned. That being said, Rick Bennett is still my guy. Regrettably he let his emotions get the best of him, then apologized and will take his medicine. I'm not sure what else he could reasonably be expected to do short of firing up the time machine and going back in time.

Agreed

IMO, the league and/or the NCAA should go significantly past a two-game suspension. That may have been handed down by your AD in an attempt to avert a severer decree, and it may work.

Before you make fun of Hokydad, I think this was a term Chaucer used in the Canterbury tales when he referred to the Wife of Bath as "yon area clown."

Good grief, I am thinking like Jon. ;)

I'm sure not to your surprise I think it is a little light. Torts for the Canucks got 15 days for the line fight w/ the Flames which translated to ECAC would be two weekends and Torts did not touch a player. I hope that he reaches out to #17 and irons that out. These are young men, he needs to be the adult.

i am sure you do old two face
the refs dont agree with you. they had best seat in house

ncaa wont be involed. league will hand out suspensions(plural)

I don't doubt the suspension will be added on to, but since this was a non-conference game, does the discipline (for everyone...not just Bennett) come from the ECAC or the NCAA?

Torts got his suspension not because of the line brawl specifically, but rather his charge to the opposing locker room after the period. In my opinion, Tort's actions were not all that different than the mayhem in this game. Slightly different circumstances, obviously, but in the big picture it does have some similarities.

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat?

Ok, so two games or more, whatever. Does a suspension apply to just the games or games and practices?

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat?

It takes two to tango - I see no reason Union should issue any discipline over and above what the conference might want to enforce. To call this a brawl is a bit ludicrous. To me the most classless move was the RPI player taunting Bennett - for good measure Rick should have just thrown the jersey over that losers head and knocked him cold. RPI has always been a second rate program - nobody debates that.

Re: 2013-2014 Union Dutchmen - Can U Three Peat?

So coming onto the ice to congratulate your goaltender after a victory is no longer allowed? Hope you remember that the next time you win a game, regardless of the opponent.
Totally allowed. Peeling off from the celebration conga line to participate in the fracas, not allowed. Try to be a little objective...

I think Adam Oates, Darren Puppa, Joe Juneau, and a National Championship ring would debate you. Yes I know Juneau didn't play on the National Championship team. :)
