Even the dance at center ice with Bodie was more Bodie wrestling and the other guy throwing punches. Yes, Bennett's punishment could have been a lot worse and I think he is lucky. But your posts just seem like sour grapes because Union, that EZAC team that didn't even get into the NCAA finals last year with two more EZAC teams in it, mopped the ice with you guys. They are an excellent team and what happened is both out of character for them and RPI as well, but **** happens in big rivalries.

Obviously I hope we can find a way to beat Union this weekend. Unfortunately, I'll be suprised if we do. Except that game and when we play in Cap District, I wish Union every success and think they have earned that through playing well, with poise, consistently.

If all the RPI guys skated away after Bodie crosschecked Higgs in the face, Higgs would probably have a lot of guys he didn't want to talk to in his locker room afterwards. You defend teammates, that's hockey. Just like taking sticks with you when celebrating.

And you guys are funny as hell if you think I am all bent out of shape because I have some animosity towards Union. In the over 10 years that I have followed college hockey, we have played Union a grand total of 5 times, and we've lost to them once. Way bigger fish to fry; this rivalry ranks somewhere amongst SCSU-Colgate and SCSU-Army.

I appreciate the vast majority of the fans who either through messages on the boards or sending me pms thanked me for putting in my two cents, and in the words of a wise man, smell ya later

Well, how many of the guys from RPI went after Bodie? One? You are suggesting that the blame is not equal. Both teams did things they should not have done, and both had suspensions which were appropriate. Further, it is not like Higgs is not partly responsible, he skated right at Bodie full speed even though the horn had blown.

You are trying to suggest that the blame is not only one sided, but mostly on one player. That's just plain wrong. Further, by 'defending' Higgs, you end up with 4 guys suspended against your rival including one of the top scorers in the league. Bodie deserves some blame. He got two games which is a lot for a Senior Captain in late January. Justice has been dispensed fairly. Retaliating against cheap shots in NCAA hockey gets you no where fast.

Seriously, what videos are all of you watching? Higgs backed up to defend Bodie against a possible last-minute shot (they, as Union fans, should know by now from playing RPI a lot that 1.7 seconds is an eternity in hockey) and Bodie cheap-shotted him in the head when he wasn't even facing him, plain and simple. I guess when a member of your team is attacked because an opposing player is a sore loser, you're supposed to sit there and let him just take it all and just go celebrate with your goaltender and ignore the fact that one of your teammates just got blindsided in the head with a stick.

And how does it being January and him being a senior captain have any bearing on his actions and subsequent punishment?

When Seth "Brylcream" Appert was throwing punches, not a hair on his head moved. Immediately I thought he must be using that heavy grease that was used in the 1950's to mat down hair and lubricate axil bearings on cars. Then I remembered what it was ...... "Brylcream.":D

I agree with your second statement, but to say it is ok to crosscheck someone in the head/neck area because "he skated right at him" is the biggest bunch of crap I've ever heard.

Why? Game's over, RPI won, and that's all that matters. The thing about us easterners is that we are able to recognize cyclical arguments. ;)
