Literally dozens of players in D1 have played games in the CWHL or its predecessor the NWHL.
Won't argue whether they are or aren't professional (that's what they call themselves, who am I to argue), but the NCAA has in the past had some interesting interpretations of what constitutes compensation other than direct payments. You're familiar with the Shamrocks/JWHL (obviously since you're always the first to post their commitments!). Does what the CWHL provide players differ or go beyond what the JWHL teams provide (seeing as how they are clearly legal in the NCAA's eyes) - equipment, travel expenses, endorsements/publicity, etc.?
