2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Re: 2013-2014 D-I Scores and Results Updates Thread

Cornell beats BC 2-0. Shots 28-27 Cornell, but BC with all the pressure in the 3rd.

Time of possession:
---------1st-------2nd------3rd--------Total----
BC -- 08:36 -- 10:18 -- 11:53 ---- 30:47
CU -- 11:24 -- 09:42 -- 08:07 ---- 29:13

I used a chess clock. Yes, folks, that is what I did with my Friday night.

Pretty good game. Cornell won the first and half of the 2nd, and BC dominated the third.

:D:D:D:. Score clock says Cornell won two periods and the game; shot clock says Cornell won two periods and the game; Check ...and mate!

I am used to thinking of Rick Seeley's teams as disciplined, defensive teams that win games by a goal. They beat RIT 8-0 today! However, in one respect it was a typical Seeley game: Quinnipiac had one penalty for two minutes.

It wasn't an 8-0 game by traditional standards. RIT rested their top goalie and unfortunately a few got by the back- ups and the flood gates opened in the second. I understand resting the goalie but in hindsight, I may have chosen a different game to do it in. RIT is definitely intimidated by better teams and they are very fragile if things go off the rails. This was similar to the Clarkson game from a goaltending perspective but up front, RIT generated many good chances. Quinnipiac was very good at clearing the net and their goalie did a good job of making the initial save and allowing few rebounds.

RITs scoring needs a lot more balance. They are getting decent production from their top players but when they are shut down, they need some goals from the bottom 6 and that is not happening.

BC up 2-0 after 1. Cornell leading the shots on goal 19-10. Slebodnick left the game shortly after the mid point of the first period apparently injured.

PC 3 Brown 2 OT

Friars win the 19th Mayor's Cup on a long breakaway pass to Janine Weber. PC outshot Brown 37 to 27.

UW and UMD scoreless after two. SOG 25-18 for UW.

Rigsby out with an injury at 7:51 of the second period...apparently a knee. Desbiens in net.

Gophers win 6-0. About halfway through the first the shots were 5-4 in favor of Princeton and I was impressed with the quality of play on the part of the Tigers. From there they were 44-6 the other way and I don't think that quite does justice to the run of play. During the second period Princeton struggled just to change lines without a whistle.

Looks like NoDak and Clarkson are deadlocked at 1 in the 3rd.

Anyone watching the video?

The box score is telling me that Wisconsin is ahead 2-1 with goals at the -14:24 and -5:14 marks of the 1st period. Bemidji pulled to within one with an even strength goal at -3:14.

I missed the first period but saw the 2nd and third. Difference in the game was the N. Dakota Goalie and the Clarkson Power Play. Clarkson's goalie Erica Howe let in 2 goals that I would characterize as soft. Tough to tell whether she was fooled on deflections or if she just was not ready but to me it looked like shots she should have stopped. N Dakota goalie made some good stops and then made a TERRIFIC glove save on a bullet of a shot from Shelby Nisbet that was headed for the upper corner of the net about a minute after UND had taken a 2-1 lead. Clarkson was 0-5 on the PP. Erin Ambrose rang one off the post on one PP but other than that the UND penalty kill really did not let Clarkson get their pp set up. Clarkson's NC$$ Pairwise is really in the toilet now. They are now desperate to win tomorrow. Would not surprise me if they now have to win the ECAC Tourney to get into the NC$$ Tourney.

PC vs Yale is in delay….scoreboard is stuck on the ice and they can't get it to go back up. Thats the problem with great new technology can't live with it can't live out it!
