Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Yep, all based on the fact that Romney's a great businessman. He knows when and how to do bankruptcy, and offshoring of jobs better than Obama does. It's a no brainer.
I just picture you typing in all these posts, glaring at your computer, red-faced, unable to believe anyone thinks differently than you do. Don't blow a gasket or anything.

I think defunding FEMA needs to be moved to the top of Romney's agenda. He needs the money to pay for my tax cut and even though my tax cut will ultimately pay for my tax cut the extra money will come in handy to pay for the extra tax cut the 1% need that will pay for everyone else's tax cut.

Or, I'm laughing. Laughing harder now that I know you think that I'm not laughing. :D

I notice that your Glass-o-meter hasn't been updated since the first weekend... :D:p

20% across the board. That's what he said and I'm holding him to it. And since my only real deductions have zero chance of being altered I'm getting 20% clean and free.

Too bad he's outsmarted you. Actually very clever, surprisingly so.

If he were to list out which deductions to limit, there'd be a huge hue and cry from each affected special interest. and so he proposed a dollar cap on deductions instead. Take your pick on how to fill it.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Agreed. Endorsements used to matter 50 years ago, when people would pick up their local paper and read what the editor had to say about Candidate X. Now, with over a billion dollars spent on TV advertising, and almost non-stop coverage of the elections from the conventions through the debates, nearly everyone knows enough about what is important to them to make their decision. So Bloomberg decides to back Obama, or the Des Moines paper thinks Romney is the better choice...nobody cares. The only difference it means is that the candidate receiving the endorsement gets an extra 15 seconds of positive air time...but in relation to the hours and hours of political commercials, it is entirely insignificant.

Who reads newspapers anymore? Mostly the older portion of the population, and at least around here, the whiter portion of the population. And which way does that demographic lean?

So might there be a chance that the paper is making that endorsement because it's what their readers want to hear? because if the paper tells the reqaders what they want to hear, they'll continue to buy that newspaper?

Just a thought.

And how exactly does that simplify the tax code?

Epic Fail.

I hope you do laugh. Your posting style just doesn't come across as being done by someone laughing.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

The real question this election is which vice-president would be better suited to protect the space-time contiunum (read the Constitution!). Also who would be part of their Vice-Presidential Action Rangers who are assigned to this duty? Al Gore had Stephen Hawking, Nichelle Nichols (of Star Trek fame), Gary Gygax (inventor of Dungens and Dragons) and chess playing super computer Deep Blue who was their summer intern. Don't know who Chaney had...probably a terrifying bunch. Biden's Action Rangers are unknown too, but likely comical. I can't make an informed choice for president without knowing who Biden has and who Ryan would have.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

I just can't believe the numbers for some reason. If people like me are more willing to vote for Bronco Bama than Mittens, how on earth is Mittens getting the votes?

Then how do you explain the Economist endorsing Obama?

Ultimately, it doesn't matter...Endorsements, like voter fraud, are things that helped candidates win elections 50 years ago. Today, they are just over-hyped relics of the past.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Truthfully, I had forgotten that. As I've mentioned a couple of dozen times, I don't watch Fox, except for wall-to-wall coverage of breaking stories, like Sandy. Otherwise, no. I plan to watch MSNBC on election night, hoping for a couple of on air suicides. Their response to the first debate was highly entertaining.

One of my favorite Geraldo "moments" came when he mustered up that conspiratorial tone and asked Bruce Lee's younger brother is he "was satisfied with the coroner's report" on his brother's death. Yeah. Like the kid had actually read the report and would have understood it if he had.

This made me laugh out loud in a quiet office. :p:o
