2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

That's there MO. I like the "Whoop Whoop" "chant" along with the 3rd song they play where they pretend they are moose. That probably made zero sense.
Nothing you say has ever made sense. :p

I hope Lucia wears his black gopher tie. I think there are at least a couple more wins in that one.

I generally root for the WCHA teams and, despite being a SCSU and UMD fan, will root for the Gophers. I won't, however, root for North Dakota or Wisconsin.

In "Tampa is a stupid place for this news." I just figured this out. With the exception of ONE division 1 program (Alabama-Huntsville), there are no hockey programs in the states bordering Florida OR the states that border those states bordering Florida.

Sigh...

Your point? I'm down in Ft. Myers now making this week a vacation of sorts, beautiful weather, tons to do in Florida. These locations will never become regular, but I wouldn't mind every 5-7 years going somewhere that wouldn't normally be considered for a change of pace.

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

OK, it sounds like whining. I'm a Harvard fan but love all hockey. The NCAA has apparently deliberately scheduled the hockey final four for a weekend with both Christian and Jewish holidays. For the religious it interferes with Holy Thursday and Easter Vigil services for Christians and with Passover for the Jewish fans. Even for the less religious it is a weekend that many travel for holiday dinners with family. Not sure why they do this but I will miss stuff. My only remaining uncle is 87. I have no idea how many more holidays I will have with him but I am driving out of state to spend the holiday with him and his family. I wish the NCAA had taken a look at the calender before scheduling. I notice they did not mess up basketball this way. Maybe another organization than the NCAA should sanction the hockey national championship, clearly hockey plays second fiddle to basketball.

Why does this have to be a dichotomy? In my worldview, God's ok with fans enjoying both. I'm assuming then your uncle is not a college hockey fan, but if he was would he refuse to turn on the tube to watch the Frozen Four because it's a religious holiday? I doubt it.

No TV in car and even if there were the MA and CT state police might take a dim view of watching while driving.

Whoah who had finding a Harvard fan in the Frozen Four thread before the Beanpot thread?

But I agree, it sucks -was the same way in 2007. Unfortunately don't think the NC$$ would base their tournament schedule around religious holidays.

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

The Frozen 4 is the same weekend every year, its the religions that are ****ed up moving their holidays around and ****.

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

So make college hockey your religion and kill two birds with one stone.

<a href="http://www.insidecollegehockey.com/9NCAA/2012/semifinal_preview_2.htm">Boston College vs Minnesota Preview</a>

Preview outlines many similarities in depth with the obvious difference of a solid BC team versus a flashy MN team. The summary:

WHY MINNESOTA WINS: Boston College enters the Frozen Four as the most consistent team in the country, but with its impressive showings against Boston University and North Dakota, Minnesota might have the most momentum. Experience is an issue—none of the Gophers had ever played in the NCAA Tournament prior to this year’s West Regional—but Minnesota is used to the big stage, playing under as much scrutiny on a night-in, night-out basis as any team in college hockey. Besides, Lucia, Guentzel, and assistant Grant Potulny (remember him?) have been here before. Talent is not an issue; if every team in the field plays its absolute best, Minnesota prevails.

WHY BOSTON COLLEGE WINS: The Eagles have too many weapons up front and Milner is again doing his best impression of a brick wall. Certainly, Minnesota will provide a difficult task for the Eagles, as the Gophers are perhaps the closest thing to a mirror image that Boston College will have seen this season. Boston College needs to remain sound defensively, control Minnesota’s own balanced offensive attack, and solve Minnesota’s own outstanding netminder in Kent Patterson

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

Will the resurrection of Union hockey, begun almost forty years ago, be complete by Easter 2012? How fitting!
