2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

“@gopherstate: #FrozenFour odds - #Gophers are 38% underdogs. RT @GopherRube84 Union -145/Ferris St +120 O/U 5. Boston College -190/Minnesota +165 O/U 6”

Wow. I'd take those odds any day of the week. MN and the over.

By contrast, since January (20 games) Gophers are giving up an average of 2.4 goals/game and scoring an average of 3.2 goals/game. Yikes!

Big deal. Who have they played and where? Same with Boston College and Union. Look at the stats taking in the entire year. Those games count to. I get that by breaking down half the year you have an idea of how they have ben playing lately, but with the big lay over here between games who knows. Throw all the stats out the window.

Just looking at the numbers, never inferred anything from them. You have to admit, BC has been on an unreal tear since January. Thing is, in one game, anything can happen.

Two of college hockey's best goaltenders going at it...Minnesota and the under.

I mentioned this on FB:

I think that it'll be a "blowout" game, where the goalies just snap and give up more than they rightfully should. BC has two consecutive shutouts, and Patterson has been playing really well, too. Add in that empty netter.....and I say 5-3.

Patterson already had his "snap" game against UND...or so I hope. If Minnesota can get one past Milner early, the floodgates may open. I think one of the keys is Minnesota scoring first. As posted on GPL, BC is 3-6-0 (9 total games) when the opponent scores first. I'll let you do the math on BC's record when they score first.

3 goals is hardly a "snap" game against one's biggest rival. ;)

No doubt it's annoying, but you have a few gems from your own:

Gophers fans lamented the B10 being forced upon the program from the start. Now that we're stuck we as fans will try to make the most out of it. Whatever, but suffice it to say there's no ivory tower here.

Sadly, I have moved on.

Re: 2012 Frozen Four: Union vs. Ferris State; Minnesota vs. Boston College

Agreed. I'm really looking forward to this game. I think it winds up being a 3-2 type game, possibly overtime(s), and the goalies stand on their heads.

My main concern with playing BC would be watching the dreaded trap for three long periods. I really hope BC doesn't go that route.

Anybody have information on who will be wearing the stripes this weekend? The host school is the only NC program so it's a wild card. Thoughts?

BC hasn't given up more than 2 since some of the players on the Gophs were playing in the pee wees. If Gophs can win it will be a low scoring affair is my guess. If it's a blowout, I think it will be the other way around. Either way, I pulling for the Gophs to pull off the upset. Good luck.

Whoah who had finding a Harvard fan in the Frozen Four thread before the Beanpot thread?

But I agree, it sucks -was the same way in 2007. Unfortunately don't think the NC$$ would base their tournament schedule around religious holidays.
No, but if you look @ squeekball, BYU is always in the Thurs-Sat bracket as they cannot play on Sundays. I would imagine if Yeshiva was part of the tournament, they would be accommodated too.

My main concern is B-jugs (© Brenthoven). He has never shaved in his life and can't grow a BEARD like all the other players. I just hope he doesn't look lost out there on Thurs.

My predictions for the semi's.

Ferris 3, Union 2
Minnesota 0, Boston College 6
