I do like the part about The Mittser parking his money in the Cayman Islands. Perhaps that's part of his economic plan for the rest of us, although I'm not sure if the banks there take desposits in 10 dollar increments. Nothing against him, but did anybody in the GOP stop to think that this is the absolute worst time to nominate a rich guy born into privilege who pays less taxes as a % of income than the rest of us AND puts his money in offshore tax havens? It ain't 2000 anymore people.

Who are you thinking of? Wellstone died in a plane crash 10 years ago.
I meant Wellstone, I'm just an idiot. I read this sentence:

He served in the Senate from 1991 until his death in a plane crash

And I saw "1991" and "death."

Nah, Bernie has stones. So does Coburn in his own weird way. Neither of them is ever getting near the WH.

Stones is being the only person to vote against something because it violates your principles. Actual principles.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Sitting down? Santorum actually came in first in Iowa.

Not that thats an outcome desired by the shady GOP establishment or anything.

Which is why Bernie and Coburn have them. Bernie's a socialist no matter the political consequences and Coburn is Doctor No no matter the political consequences. I guess you could say Cheney had stones, too. His principle was personal enrichment and nothing political could stand in his way.

That is funny. I too don't think it changes anything, but if Romney loses SC he would have won only the contest in his back yard and lost the other two. That would be an interesting narrative to take into Florida.

Interesting that Gingrich welcomed Perry's endorsement today. Sharp contrast to Romney's reaction when Huntsman endorsed him....

I posted that in post 482 below. Heard it this morning on Morning Joe.

Oil prices are not the primary driver of high gas prices right now, judging by the trend in the crack spread. Supply and demand of gasoline is the primary driver of high gas prices. As such, I'm unconvinced that anything oil-supply-side would make a significant difference.
Is the electorate, as a whole, smart enough to make that distinction? I say no. Plus admitting that there is any problem on the demand side is placing some burden for resolving it on ourselves rather than on politicians and corporate leaders, and nobody wants to do that.

I know that this is dangerous territory, but could you explain what you're getting at here?

Are suggesting that the GOP establishment favors Santorum?

I think what he's getting at, and I apologize for trying to speak for you 5MM, is that the GOP establishment is more anti-Romney than pro-Santorum.

Heaven Forbid!! They, the MSM, and the Dems all want Mitt.

That's how I read it as well, and that's honestly the first time I'd heard that. I thought the general idea was the Mitt was the epitome of the establishment, with non-establishment elements furiously searching for a "not-Mitt"?

Re: 2012 Elections Pt II: Bachmann Turned Me Into a Newt! A Newt?

I don't get it either. I wonder if the GOP realizes that Mitt is the only candidate that has a chance against Obama.

No problem. Actually...my thinking is the opposite. I think Romney got the nudge in Iowa.

Hey looks like Newt "Open Marriage" Gingrich is back in the lead in SC. The Mittster must be fuming seeing as he's the one you'd expect to have 5wives. ;) This contest just keeps getting stranger and stranger.

I did see that Newtie released his tax returns and he's been paying at a 30% clip with no offshore tax havens involved...

What? Is he an idiot? He should only be paying 15%.
