Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

Why wouldn't they still be overrepresented, since the states still have the 2 EV which represent the senate, too (which gives them that over representation)?
I thought about this.

Then I thought about it again.

And you're right. I'm an idiot.

In fact, it might even exacerbate their advantage.

That happened in Europe...those Socialists are criminals like that! (plus his name sounded almost Islamic...hmmmmmmmmm) Our American banks would never have such issues!
You have to remember that bankers were given their wealth by God as a sign they are the Elect.

So it's OK to deregulate them. The pursuit of their enlightened self-interest will always result in the national interest. That's why there were no recessions and depressions before regulation.

I thought the Europeans got their wealth from Swiss Banks...who of course "appropriated it" during that little dustup that happened in the late 30s/early 40s ;)

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

FWIW, if you switched the entire system over to a district-by-district EV system and then hand 2 EV's to whoever wins each state, it would have netted McCain about 60 EV's.

You are really skilled at steering any issue out there to somehow be about those bad folks who have religious beliefs. Can't say I'd ever heard anyone claim that wealthy bankers supposedly had God gave them their big bank accounts until now. That's certainly an interesting theory. Not one I subscribe to, but certainly interesting. Somehow this probably ties into how bad the BCS is also.

It's not original. It's a reference to a 16th - 19th century interpretation of Calvinist doctrine that material wealth was an external sign that someone had Unconditional Election (salvation based on divine will as distinct from merit). I suspect you can guess who it went over big with.

Did you go to public, private, or home school?

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

One of my favorite Republican talking points is Obama's stimulus was $800B, when a third of that was tax cuts.

It's great that "Job Creators" has now become universal code for "wealthy people." Good God, how can we tax them at all? They're "Job Creators"!

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

"Job creators" sitting on their money is the cause of the economic downturn this year? That makes zero sense.

I guess progressives believe that businesses should be making poor fiscal decisions by hiring employees that will produce goods or services that there is no demand for.

Probably makes sense if you have no business experience.....like the POTUS and 99% of his administration.

Thank you for admitting, whether intentionally or not, that demand drives employment. Seems to be exactly what Keynsians argue when they debunk supply-siders.

Do you mean 60 EV's total or 60 additional EV's above what he received in 2008?

Why does the derp have to go to 11 in this thread as well?

You're HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELARIOUS. Glad to see your adopting a Keynsian mindset. It's about time you got off the Voodoo.

We're at DERPCON 1.

That's what progressives believe, correct?

Also: Keynes was an idiot. He thought he was a genius by taking part of Say's Law, turning it around and calling it his own. Not at all innovative, and even further from a workable theory. In believing that "demand creates its' own supply", you're stating that the economy is wholly reactive....which is far, FAR from reality.

So the economy is proactive and if the job creators put more money in it would be stimulated?

Yeah, he's an idiot. As much of one as the morons who keep giving tax cuts to job creators when there's no demand. But, keep being plucky.

So now you're contradicting yourself. Nice backpeddle.

Also, I had lots of economics professors who believed in Keynsian economics would laugh at being called progressive.
