Rick Perry steps in it again.

My favorite factoid of the day.

Can you say oxymoron?

I can say "moron." So picking Superman is "stepping in it" because some smart mouth Latino "activist" wants to make a big deal out of something profoundly unimportant? And being successful means you can't advocate for greater fiscal sanity in Washington? Libtards on parade.

I expect our friends on the right will miss the irony of Rick Perry endorsing an illegal alien. They also will miss the part where he came to earth "to save America." He did? I must have missed that in all the retellings of the origin story through the years. I thought he was here a) because his planet blew up b) because his space craft landed here (doubt many American kids wanted to read about a superhero in China or Russia - or worse yet, after flying all this way, he crashes into the ocean) and c) his purpose was to help mankind..not one specific nationality...

Glad Governor Perry cleared that up for us. Maybe he can tell us how Dudley Do-Right is a great American who protects the border from those dangerous Latinos.

Gawd, you really are priceless, Peeless.

So, which did Mitt Romney pick? Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor?

Bruce Wayne obviously.

Looks like Obama picked Superman too, unless it's a photoshop. :p

I've always been partial to Green Arrow. I coveted those boxing glove arrows which seemed to have the ability to deliver more than one blow.

Didn't Superman get a job and was never (as far as we know) the beneficiary of a government hand out?

But think, he could..
Replace the Corps of Engineers (change the course of mighty rivers)
Revitalize American industry (bend steel in his bear hands)
Replace Department of Homeland Security (fights the never ending battle for truth, justice, and the American Way)

and he's modest, too.

His "parents" were farmers...just ask Bachmann about tax incentives for family farmers ;)

And I forget...Clark was home schooled, right? So he never took advantage of a public education system, used roads or did anything else where he might benefit from society? :D

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

I'm aware that the fact that Perry used to be a Democrat hasn't been missed in this thread, but I find it funny nonetheless. He's a typical self-serving politician, just like Obama has proven to be, and thousands before them. Say anything to get elected, then do nothing of real substance in office. Eff them all.

In the first Superman movie, isn't Clark is going to high school? I think he's the manager of the football team. There's that memorable scene where he punts the ball into the next time zone. Not that all of this minutae about a fictional character is actually relevant.

Please, God, let's not have back and forths about the meaning of the "original texts" of the comic books as opposed to the scripts of the movies. Where's that dude from the Simpson's when you really need him? ;)

Romney actually has a pretty good story he can't use...

He's going to have no choice pretty soon -- he'll have to use it. Then we'll see an interesting battle for the soul of the Republican party -- the kind of battle Huntsman might have forced if he weren't from the practice squad.

There's one thing about that chart, though. Given California's high rate, despite being a People's Republic, could that really just be a map of illegal immigration?

From everything Bob tells us, Arizona would be dark as night if that were the case.

They get a lot of illegal immigrants in Alaska and Montana? :D

I hear lot more Spanish speakers in recent years (after our labor chick said we got lots of jobs and it was plastered nationwide.). But it's probably the Alaska Native subsistence living in villages (without jobs and insurance) around 10-15% of state population.

I can see summer (illegal) migration workers up here. fish cannery, clamming, some farming etc... (4 drowned on a clam boat accident recently and all had latino names. Reporter couldn't verify if they were US citizen or (il)legal immigrants)
And people with identity swap like this police officer hero.

http://www.adn.com/2011/04/22/1823607/23arrestedcop.html
on the Anchorage police force for about six years, was really Rafael Mora-Lopez, a Mexican national working in the United States illegally.

He obviously got through the polygraph," Mew said.

The identity swap was discovered when the police officer applied for a U.S. passport in January and officials from the State Department found that the Rafael Espinoza identity he was using was actually another person, a U.S. citizen in the Lower 48

In Montana it's Injuns.

(I actually have no idea, but I find it hard to imagine anybody else moving to Montana except for wealthy retired fly fisherman who have health insurance.)

Edit: well. Whaddya know?
