She just oozes sexuality.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

Honest, by memory only: Thomas Eagleton, Senator from Missouri, seemed attractive enough at the outset, until it turned out that, 11 years earlier, he had undergone electroshock therapy as treatment for post-campaign depression.

After McGovern said he backed Eagleton "1,000 per cent," Eagleton, of course, got kicked to the curb and was replaced by R. Sargent Shriver.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

No, I wasn't, but primarily because I thought Ferraro was a crook.

And for somebody who rants about Obama's supposed blind love, I have a strong suspicion the Cult of Personality that surrounded The Actor never bothered you one bit. The GOP still hasn't stopped their Saint Ronny circle jerk.

I wan't posting here when "Ronnie the Popular" (from a Creedence lyric) was president. So I'm wondering how you've concluded I bought in to the "Cult of Personality" that surrounded "The Actor." Let's see, he beat an inclumbent governor of California, with a two to one registration advantage, by a million votes. Later, he beat an incumbent incompetent in a three man presidential race in 47 states and took control of the Senate. Four years later he came within a handful of votes of winning 50 states. In two presidential runs he won 96 states. Nothing to see here, move on. It's amazing how tenaciously you cling to that "actor" smear. Evidently having been an actor is way worse than fellating every Hollywood schmuck who can write a check.

How is the GOP love for Ronnie any worse than Dems worshipping at the shrine of JFK or for that matter, his drunken drowning younger brother? The "lion of the Senate," my a*s! Wandering around his Florida compound, drunk, with his pants around his ankles, asking women young enough to be his granddaughter to "kiss it." There haven't been any revelations about Ronnie sleeping with Chicago mob babes, or east German spies, or seriously drug addled Hollywood actresses. Yet all of that, and more, is what we now know about JFK.

And for the simpletons: my reference to Ferraro's breasts was a reference to her sex not her, uh, bosom.

All the sources I've read said that was just speculation. Was there ever solid proof of this?

Jack Anderson told Eagleton on national TV: "I have seen the tickets (DUI)." But you're right, I should have said "rumored" to be a world class boozer. Bad scholarship. The electroshock stories let the air out of anything else anyway.
I just checked Wiki and it says Anderson eventually retracted the DUI claims. Very bad scholarship.

I believe Ronnie got accused of rape in a tell all book by Kitty Kelly (back in his Hollywood days).

Interestingly she also brought up the accusation that his mind was failing him during the second term of his Presidency. Widely dismissed even on the left (I remember Sam Donaldson saying if that was the case he'd know it) it has subsequently been confirmed by even his own family that Reagan was much worse off than was known at the time. In fact President Nixon urged his cabinet to call off the Iceland summit with Gorbechev because he felt Reagan was far less mentally sound than his public image portrayed.

GOP Spending so far.

Add El Presidente and the power of the incumbency sure looks good!

There's another graphic on positive vs. negative TV ads. Negative leads by 3-1.

Thanks for that. New Balance Athletics just blew a half million on Romney's PAC. They certainly will not have the opportunity to waste my money again.

I'm a big fan of full disclosure...now the NB community knows it too. :)

I'll cut New Balance some slack. Probably just supporting their fellow Massachusetts homeboy. Besides, NB is like the only sneaker manufacturer left who makes their product in the United States instead of with overseas slave labor. Remember that when its time to replace yours...

Naw. I respect free trade as a necessity to make a company competitive. But that doesn't seem to be too much of an issue here as they have moved plenty of production overseas. With their record against unions, I'm now not seeing them as white knights. Local allegences are pretty meaningless also...I don't think I'd give Target any slack if they would have come out supporting Bachmann.

As an entity they've made the conscious decision to enter the political arena...and everyone should expect to be held accountable for their actions.

This is why I think most campaign finance laws are silly. I'd much rather have the campaign money go directly to a candidate with full disclosure of where it came from. That way the candidate is tied to what comes out in ads and everyone can see where the money came from and make their own decisions about it.

Re: 2012 Elections in 3-D!

In the end, consequence of action is the cornerstone of both democracy and capitalism. If citizens and consumers don't act on displeasure from actions taken...then it doesn't matter what actions politicians and corporations take. Soon enough we will be left with dictatorships and monopolies.

It's striking if you set up the comparison as Obama v Romney. The money comes from exactly the same places with two exceptions: Obama's Chicago and PNW circles are bigger, and Romney has raised a ton from Salt Lake City (HQ of the LDS).

Gingrich's map is hysterical. It all comes from one guy (Adelson).

+ 1.

An analogy with water: much easier to control the flow than to stop the flow entirely. Add much pressure and the potential for a leak is just too strong.

Tons of New Balance shoes are made in China, they may make some shoes in the US but not all. Not dissing New Balance, the fact they are still here at all is a great thing. I've heard they are a good outfit to work for and my whole family wears their products

Mittens' "size of contributions" graph looks like its giving everyone the finger...
