She did? Or her employers did so they could say they were diverse?

Yet Warren also identified herself as a minority in professional legal directories for nine years.
From your article, I'm sure its just a misunderstanding, after all she is one of the beautiful people who are only out for you and me. Their is a sucker born every minute

Re: 2012 Elections - Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death....

From your article

Yeah, I saw that. There wasn't much detail there.

So, I guess your contending that she used her "false" minority status to give her an advantage in the workplace? And I suppose you could also argue that her employer used it as well.

That is kind of messed up. Not surprised either way. Those of us who don't find a way to use someone or something end up stuck in the malaise usually.

Re: 2012 Elections - Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death....

Regarding Greenspan while a brilliant economist his credibility isn't worth sh ! t anymore. This is the same guy who missed the housing bubble and advocated for the Bush tax cuts over deficit reduction. Its funny because when I was in business school, both undergrad and grad, there was one rule taught to us above all else. That rule was Worship Alan Greenspan. Wonder if they still teach that today?

Regarding Warren, this "issue" is stupid. As there are very few pure blooded Native Americans left in this country, most people claiming any ancestory are probably pretty diluted (as I am myself, although my ancestor is from Quebec). Since she does have an Indian ancestor, 1) what exactly is the problem, and 2) why is this important? If someone says they're Swedish, and it turns out their grandmother's grandmother was from Sweden, would this be front page news?

What is the old saying...if you aint cheating you aint trying?

Re: 2012 Elections - Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death....

There is a third way, which employs non-governmental social sanctions.
A codification of social sanctions is what government is. The only positive I see in an end run around is to reboot entrenched bureaucracies.

Re: 2012 Elections - Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death....

Regarding Warren,

don't you find it ironic that the "populist" candidate had 2010 income of $980,000, while the "elitist" had 2010 income of $254,000?

the only "issue" about her exploiting affirmative action when it benefited her and then dropping it when it no longer benefited her is merely the hypocrisy of it all, that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

uh, yeah, and to avoid forcible confiscation of property which is then wasted on GSA junkets, Larry Craig stall visits, Weiner text-a-thons, etc.

Not at all. Both grew up poor so they qualify as having gone through the grind (unlike a Romney lets say).

Kindly post some evidence that she benefited from "affirmative action". This is starting to remind me of the Aqua Bhudda story.

Anytime anyone is lifted up as being above questioning, that should be a red flag to question that person. Oh, and Obama has replaced Greenspan to answer your other question, though I can't specifically speak for your business school.

Who lifted up Elizabeth Warren as above questioning?

Who lifted up Elizabeth Warren as above questioning?
He said it about Greenspan.
"That rule was Worship Alan Greenspan. Wonder if they still teach that today?"

:looks again:
:shakes head in disappointment she didn't make the front page:
How come I am not on the front page- this is me.

Re: 2012 Elections - Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death....

I'm guessing that you are probably middle class, which means you are going to bear the brunt of the upcoming income tax increases. It is inevitable ("do the math") because that is where the money is (cue Willy Sutton).

43% of all income earned comes from the Top 10% of earners, 44% from 10-50. I'd call that a wash.

Re: 2012 Elections - Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death....

So Elizabeth Warren is apparantly 1/32 Indian (which gives her a huge advantage over Ward Churchill, who's evidently zero part Indian). Under different circumstances, that would have put her in violation of the Nuremburg or anti-miscegenation laws. Fortunately, we're past that now. Or are we? Churchill evidently used his faux Indian heritage to become a department chairman at a major state university. And the early indications are Ms Warren had no objections to being fobbed off on the credulous as a "minority." It's possible she's blameless here. It's also possible she was playing the "diversity" game to feather her own nest. We'll see.

And if it turns out she ever transported any type of pet on the roof of her car, she's toast.

When this "story" broke I was thinking: I had no idea Native Americans even qualified for Affirmative Action. Not to mention one look at the woman and you don't start thinking "Diversity" and "Ethnic" as she's white as a ghost so I'm not sure hiring her would get any activists off your back as an institution. I personally would be upset if she used this to gain employment, but haven't seen anything in that regard as of yet.

And if it turns out she ever transported any type of pet on the roof of her car, she's toast.

Funny. :D I wonder if she can get some of that casino revenue. Not sure what the stardard is on that.

I work at a workplace that is... shall we say... diversity challenged (you don't get > 80% Republican registration in a diverse environment). My esteemed employer's business also is heavily dependent on federal contracts, so HR is constantly discovering new and exciting ethnicities in our workforce to trumpet as "diverse." One of our engineers has been featured three times in the last five years as part of "minority outreach." He's 1/8th Hawaiian and whiter than Scarlett Johansson. I jokingly suggested putting myself in a few years ago because I was part Slovak, and the HR person had to think about it for a minute.

No idea what the Warren Report will turn up, but I have no difficulty believing that employers "create" ethnic characteristics to fit their needs.
