2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

I expect Union and Miami to slug it out in the regional finals....however in a one game and you're out anyhing can, has, and is likely to happen.

My team, MSU, is a blue collar team. Strengths are goaltending, penalty killing, balanced scoring, and not taking too many penalties. Weaknesses are lack of size, lack of a true number one skill line, tendency to give up goals in the first and last minutes of periods, and power play. They do best 5 on 5. Best player is Krug, a small, dangerous defenseman.

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

I don't expect a full house...I think one thing that's really going to hurt the attendance is the fact that Union students are still on spring break (mostly at various locations in the Caribbean). If school had been in session, I think Union would have sent busloads of students down to Bridgeport. Unfortunately, because of this, I don't expect to see many Union students there. I don't think I saw more than 3 students down in Atlantic City this past weekend.

5K to 6K is my estimate, I don't know how Lowell travels. Having the UCONN men out of the NCAA BB tourney will help the local walkup. When picking up tixs today the center sections were sold out and I ended up between the net and the blue line about 14 rows up. I like the bands, i just hope with four there they put them high in each corner.

BTW single session tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster for those who can only make one day.

That's correct, LT. The bands will be located on the top of the four corner sections.

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

Yes we are...and should we be fortunate enough to advance, we wouldn't face them until the finals...but that's a LONG way off...

Oh, and I thought for sure they were teasing a BU/MU rematch by showing the ugly highlights from the '09 title game...
We'd be happy to relieve you of that worry. :D Note: I dont think for a second it'll be easy, but I figured it that offering was the nice thing to do....

Thanks everyone for the scoop on their teams. Looking forward to some intense hockey.

3 bands...Union doesn't have a band...well we do, but it isn't made up of students, and it is pretty weak to be generous. Even if it was made up of students, like someone else may have posted, it is Union spring break this week.

See all the U fans @ the bar.

This is when you go find a really good high school band, make a donation to them and chuck 'em on a bus with a couple boxes of Union shirts. :)

Barnum Publick House just opened and is actually pretty classy. Bridgeport on the rise!:

It sounds counterintuitive to say it, but there are actually plenty of quality eating establishments in downtown Bridgeport these days.
Only problem I have here is their hours. Definitely ok for a pre-game stop but perhaps not suitable for post-game celebration or commiseration.

Mon - Thu: 11:30 am - 9:30 pm
Fri - Sat: 11:30 am - 10:30 pm
Sun: 11:00 am - 9:00 pm

No, it is definitely a student-led band, though with spring break still going I doubt any members will make the trip. They aren't the best, you are right there, but they are better than nothing (and they did improve this year).

Well, I was thinking first round rematch, but now that you mention it, a title game/Frozen Four rematch would be just fine, too. :p

If Union can't bring their band can we compensate by bringing our electric guitars?

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

Good luck to Miami! Looking forward to the start of a rivalry in a couple of years.

Good morning hockey fans! The Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District is looking forward to welcoming you to Bridgeport. Our goal (no pun intended) is to help you enjoy your stay in our city. Here's a link to a map of dining and entertainment options and a map of services that will give you an idea of where things are in relation to the Webster Bank Arena, the Bridgeport Holiday Inn, etc. Additionally, you can see what's happening while you're here in Bridgeport at www.InfoBridgeport.com. We will be monitoring this board right through the tournament, so feel free to post any questions about what to do , where to stay, where to eat, etc.

***? When did Bridgeport become Salt Lake City?

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

For the halibut I checked ticketmaster to get a guage on where attendance is at currently. It doesn't look like the tickets aren't exactly selling like proverbial hotcakes, as I was able to get tix in section 106.
