2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

Bridgeport Info... do you know anything about parking in the area near the Publick House? Rates?

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

Patman - there are parking meters on most downtown Bridgeport streets. You have to feed the meters only from 8am to 6pm, Monday thru Saturday. So, you can park at the metered spaces for free after 6pm, and all day Sunday. There's a parking garage right around the corner from the Barnum Publick House, not sure of the rates, probably a couple of bucks an hour. By the way, Barnum Publick House is fantastic! Its brand new, has gastropub-style menu, and a nice selection of local craft beers and domestic wines. They provide valet parking during peak times. See other dining choices at http://infobridgeport.com/dining/. Some of my favorites include Two Boots (great pizza and beer), Epernay (bistro and wine bar), and Ralph 'n' Rich's (Italian, steaks, a great raw bar, and wonderful martinis). All are located downtown, within minutes of the Arena.

EDIT... just heard from Barnum Publick House who reports that they now have parking available in an indoor garage around the corner on John Street.

UMLFan - not sure if anyone has answered your question about parking. The parking fee at the Arena is $15. Metered parking is available on the streets for $1 an hour, and parking in the metered spaces is free after 6:00 pm and on Sundays.

Do we know about the rates in this garage? Is it large enough where they won't mind if we park there and walk to the arena from there?

Lost track of which speaker was which but one of the three writers on USCHO Live picked double upsets on Friday and Lowell to come out of the regional and head to Tampa. Very daring pick. I'd be ok with him being right, tho. ;)

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

I have to say kudos to the InfoBridgeport folks for being savvy enough to find this thread and being so helpful to all of us unfamiliar with Bridgeport. Much appreciated!

I really hope that UML students not only fill one bus but multiple ones and that we get a few thousand fans overall down there Friday. It isn't like we're in GB or MN which would've resulted in, I believe, far, far fewer UML supporters getting there. Since Bridgeport is only 2-3 hours away, let's show the NCAA committee that they did the right thing by keeping UML east and show them that Lowell will travel so that hopefully in the future we won't get shoved out to Siberia if they think our fans won't go either way.

Anyone know if Gumby, Easy Sign kid, etc. will be making the trek? Between them and everyone else, let's try and make Webster Bank Arena the Tsongas Center South on Friday!

Just a suggestion, if you are staying in Milford, you can park in downtown Milford and take the Metro North train for $4.50 round trip. Make sure that you buy your ticket at the machine on the platform or they will charge double if purchased on the train, the trains run constantly, at least every hour. 11 minutes each way

Map of Milford, park free at Shipyard Lane lots and walk over to the train, first left after walking under railroad bridge on River St There are lots closer to the station on High St. that are free on weekends

IIRC, Milford parking is free after 10 (had a friend who frequently made UConn to Columbia trips)

Milford transit owns the lots next to the station, here are the parking hours and payment rules.
Weekday Parking (Lot 4):

Daily parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis on High Street in the Daily lot (white booth) for $6.00 per day. This lot is across the street from the train station. There is an attendant at the daily lot from 4:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Monday through Friday.

If there is a parking spot available in the Daily lot after 10:15 a.m. you can still park in the Daily lot and the attendant will put an envelope on your car that you can mail in with the payment when you return.

Daily passes may also be bought in advance for the Daily lot. If you do not have a parking permit for Lot 1, 2 or 3, the Daily lot is the ONLY lot you can park in Monday through Friday.

Weekend Parking

Parking is free from Friday midnight until Sunday midnight in all lots (1, 2, 3, 4) at the Milford Train Station. If you park on the weekend and are not returning until sometime Monday through Friday the only place you can park then is the Daily lot. Any cars remaining in the permit lots (1, 2, 3) during the week without a permit will be ticketed and/or towed.

Overnight parking is allowed except in the event of a snowstorm. Milford Transit is not responsible for loss or damage to vehicles or property.

Directions to Train Station:

From I95 North, Take Exit 37 –High Street. Make a right and follow High Street. Train station on left, daily parking on right.

From I95 South, Take Exit 36 – Plains Road. Left onto Plains Road then right onto High Street.

Easy Button guy will be there. Not sure about the others.

Really appreciate your help.

No idea about how many buses, but I noticed they just set up a car pool page on Facebook as well to help people get down there. Great idea.

LT, thanks a lot for your help. If you make it to Barnum's on Friday around 1 or so and see a brown guy wearing a signed UML blue sweater, come by and say hi, I'll buy you a beer. This help is great.

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

GO-UML: just heard back from our friend at Barnum Publick House. He says the parking lot around the corner on John Street has plenty of room, and the parking fee is just $5. Sounds like a good option. Park once for a very fair price, walk a couple of blocks to the Arena, and you can hit the Barnum Publick House before/after the games.

Not bad insight into the other teams but man do they need a better editor (at least 3 typos in there, who is "Kimrass")....
And 1996 was 16 years ago, not 14. Ugh. Ignoring that stuff, it is a good article.

Thank you so much. As others have mentioned, the help that you and LS have provided has been phenomenal and we are very much appreciative of it.

Re: 2012 East Regional: Union, Miami, Lowell, Michigan State

Patman... I believe that the parking lot entrance is on John Street, the exit on Bank Street.
