Born and raised a Notre Dame fan. My dad is a big fan as is my entire family and many of my friends. For a lot of people who dont have a connection it was probably passed down to them if you will or passed from a friend who had it passed down to them. I know I will do the same when (if) I have kids. For many of us I think the "connection is just the fact that we are from northern Indiana and our families grew up watching Notre Dame games every Saturday.

We have a "Notre Dame bar" in my hometown. The owner is a HUGE fan and some of his grandkids went there too. It is packed on Saturdays. The walls are covered with Notre Dame stuff and painted blue and gold.

OSU-Cal game is getting chippy and the refs aren't helping. In fact I don't remember the last time I heard the announcers berate the officials this badly. Just before the commercial break they said something to the affect of "Maybe some day there will be an NCAA officiating crew, so you don't have to say things like "this is an Big Ten officiating crew" which brings up connotations that should not be there."

Cal was screwed out of 7 points. Should be a 20-14 game. And I believe there's been flags on the last six plays.

Yeah that holding call was bull. There was also a call earlier where they called someone from both teams for unsportsmanlike when it appeared the guy from Cal did absoultely nothing to deserve his call.

Looks like MarQuis Gray (sp?) got injured, I'm not sure how injured. Of course I want him to come back, but something in my gut tells me this might be a blessing in disguise for the Gophs.

Backup walked in and threw two TD passes, so yes. WMU probably doesn't have a report on him.

And apparently FSU's team were as sick of hearing about "Wake has won 4 of the last 6 against FSU) as I was.

38-0 at halftime.

I wish they would stagger the start times of games a little more. All the games go into halftime at the same time and I would rather be able to flip to another channel to watch some live football than sit through halftime.

Pitt takes out Virginia Tech 35-17 in Pittsburgh. Cal and OSU tied at 28 with just over 7 minutes left. OSU just threw an INT.

Cal carrying the banner of respectability quite well. I'd recommend their kicker continue on east to State College to form a kickers' support group, though.

Looks like Cal will fall to OSU. Cal throws an INT for their first turnover of the game with just over 1 minute and OSU up 35-28. After Cal missed the FG earlier, OSU got a TD when a receiver was wide open behind the Cal D (nearest defender had to be at least 10 yds away) which put them up for good. Cal could have won that game. They played good and really controlled most of the 2nd half.

Unless you have a scholarship kicker who doesn't suck, just go for it, college coaches.

Agree. Heck even if your kicker is on scholarship if its only a yard for the 1st down you go for it. Especially if you have to make a 40+ yarder.

Two crazy plays in a row in Arkansas-Bama game. Bama has INT overturned when it is ruled the ball hit the ground first (which I agree with). Then Arkansas punts and Bama appears to fumble the ball while receiving. They call forward progress and give the ball to Bama. Looking at it again he was down before the fumble but the forward progess call was the wrong call to make...should have been just called down.

Circle Nov. 3rd on your calendars. That day might as well be the semifinals for the National Championship. Oregon is at USC and Alabama is at LSU. I'd be surpised if any of them lose before then. Though LSU does have Florida and South Carolina back to back a few weeks before.

I don't think you Gopher fans have anything to worry about. Cuse is losing to Stony Brook. It will be 4-0 before the collapse happens. :D

Last week we picked up a national championship. THis week we got an Outland Trophy.

The Gophers awarded Bobby Bell his 1962 Outland Trophy. Apparently he won it before the FWAA awarded trophies (prior to 1988 they awarded plaques). They have been issuing trophies for 15 years now to those who won before 1988.

The Gopher fans on Facebook crowing because they beat WMU by five are hilarious.

At this rate, John L. Smith won't even last one year at Arkansas. He is such a joke.
