2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

I am not just talking about the check from behind, but if you thought that was a weak call I suggest you take a similar cross check from her. Bottom line is both twins are always taking BS cheap shots every chance they get. Also if you think that UND has any chance to win anything you may want to relaod the peace pipe with something differant, your team will be lucky to finish in the top four of the WCHA.

Outside the top 4? whose the one with the peace pipe?

Grant, you can't be serious! ;)
Hahaha no, of this I am dead serious. You never stop hearing about them taking dumb penalties. Also, this ( http://hockeyeastonline.com/women/boxes09.php?wbc_min1.m14 ) is, I believe, the only game I've ever personally been to where they were playing.

Hacks. It wasn't just the penalties, they both just played chippy. At least, before one of them got ejected anyway. Then just one of them played chippy.

You guys should be glad to be rid of them. Lot of wasted and misdirected talent if you ask me.

Well when the news first broke that they were transferring, it was a tough blow to be honest, kind of like a slap in the face. But upon learning of their extended family ties to UND, you understood why they decided to transfer and play "back home".

Now, it's more like a distant memory than anything else, aided in large part by the fact that we've managed to do "pretty good" without them. ;)

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Minnesota State and Lindenwood have dropped the puck to open action in 2013. After one period, the Mavericks lead the Lions, 2-0. Shots on goal are 9-6 in favor of the Mavs.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Now through two periods, Mavericks 5, Lions 1. Nicole Germaine scored her first two goals of the season and has an assist, and Lauren Smith also has two goals along with two assists. Alyssa West has the lone goal for Lindenwood. Shots are 21-16 Minnesota State.

Final: Minnesota State 6, Lindenwood 1. Kari Lundberg added a goal in the third period for the Mavericks (shown in the live stats as unassisted). Finals shots were 31-27 Mavs. Danielle Butters made 26 saves for the victory.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Final: Minnesota State 6, Lindenwood 0 -- Kathleen Rogan exploded for a hat trick plus an assist, all in the second period, turning a 1-0 lead after 1 into a 5-0 rout. Lauren Smith scored two goals for the second straight game and also had an assist, giving her 7 points in the series. Danielle Butters had a 29-save shutout, while Taylor Fairchild made 32 saves for the Lions.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

In more non-conference play, UConn defeats a very short-handed Princeton squad, 5-1. The Tigers had only 15 skaters and 1 goalie (according to the box score).

Can someone tell me if Princeton had a second goaltender dressed? As mentioned, the box score only shows one, and I thought it was/is a penalty to not have a second.

Despite the lopsided score and number of players (UConn had 17 skaters and a full compliment of 3 goalies), shots on goal favored Princeton 26-23.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

I thought it was/is a penalty to not have a second {goaltender}.
And I verified that in the rules as well...
Rule 5.2 - Players in Uniform - At the beginning of each game, the coach of each team shall list the players and goalkeepers who shall be eligible to play in the game. A maximum of 18 players, plus not more than three nor less than two goalkeepers, shall be permitted; and a captain shall be designated. In exhibition games, 21 skaters and as many as three goalkeepers are allowed.

PENALTY—Bench minor.
There's more in the next rule as well.
Rule 5.3 - Goalkeeper - Each team shall be allowed one goalkeeper on the ice at one time. The goalkeeper may be removed and another player substituted.

A substitute goalkeeper must be on the bench at the start of the game and shall at all times be fully dressed and equipped and ready to play. Upon entering the game, the substitute goalkeeper shall take his position without delay. A team shall not start a game with less than two goalkeepers.
PENALTY—Forfeiture (score will be recorded as 1-0).

Note: A team must travel to an away game with a minimum of two goalkeepers on the roster. If one of the goalkeepers sustains an incapacitating injury or, because of extenuating circumstances, is not able to suit up, a forfeiture penalty shall not be called. Officials are instructed to play the game and report it to the rules committee and appropriate conference, if applicable. The rules committee is the sole arbitrator of these extenuating circumstances.

In the "note" may lie the explanation. The second goalie could have traveled with the team and then became sick before the game started. Extenuating Circumstances can cover a lot of things.

One of the extenuating circumstance in this case is that Kimberly Newell (Princeton's #1 goalie) is in Europe playing for the Canadian U18 team. Princeton does have 3 goalies rostered, though, so there should have been 2 at the game. But the 3rd goalie is a junior and has never played in a game, so perhaps she quit the team.

Coach Kempersal is also in Europe coaching the US U18 team, so I'm sure that contributed to today's performance (or lack thereof). As to the 15 skaters, Princeton historically has been short-handed - they just can't get a signficant number of kids in. Last season, they played many games with 13 or 14 skaters due to injuries. They only have 16 skaters on the roster this season and it includes 1 player who has missed a lot of time due to injuries, so likely the whole squad was dressed.

High shot totals... 41-39? I can't complain about either goaltender yielding 3 goals in that scenario.

EDIT: And then (if the live stats are correct), Blake Bolden scores for B.C. on the first shot on goal of overtime.

FINAL: Mercyhurst 1, Syracuse 0 - Christie Cicero scored the game's only goal at the 3:08 mark of the 3rd period. Amanda Makala made 24 saves for the shutout win. Syracuse's Kallie Billadeau also made 24 saves.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

FINAL: Lindenwood 5, Robert Morris 2 - Kendra Broad had two power-play goals and Alison Wickenheiser had a power-play goal and a short-handed empty-net goal as the Lions upset the Colonials. It was the Lions first road win in CHA play. Nicole Hensley made 32 saves for the win; Kristen DiCiocco made 30 saves for RMU.
