2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Minnesota up 1-0 after the first period on a power play goal by Lee Stecklein. The score is closer than yesterday at the same point but I think the Gophers are playing better.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

4-0 is the final as Amanda Kessel adds an unassisted shortie to move back into a tie for the most shorthanded goals in the nation with Wisconsin. Amanda Leveille records her second shutout of the season and retains her 100.0 save percentage. Goalie controversy?

Goalie controversy?

Barring the unexpected, I don't see it. But the way Leveille has played, when given the opportunity, has to give Coach Frost a lot of confidence that he can insert her into a game at any time if the situation calls for it. And her strong play sure bodes well for next year, when he'll be relying on her most every game.

I'm sure Ms. Leveille is a fine goalie, but I think I'd withhold judgement until she faces a team which breathes a little heavier in her crease. By my count, UNH had serious scoring threats on maybe 2 or 3 occasions, yet none of them drew that rink wide gasp that comes from an impressive save. Not saying she isn't capable, just saying this game didn't prove it.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

The Minnesota "goalie controversy" is coming from the odd statistic that no Gophers goalie other than Noora has allowed a goal since October of 2010. Obviously they haven't played much, but it has still added up to a decent number of shots. Rest assured that nobody among the Minnesota faithful expects #41 to be anywhere other than the crease come March.

Harvard 2
Northeastern 0 midway through second.

Clarkson beats Cornel 2-1, scoring a power play goal to take the lead. Cornell had NINE penalties called against them. Cornell need to figure out how to stay out of the box. Overall, a great game with back and forth action. Shots on goal were even at 30.

Both goalies came up big in this one especially Slobotnick who stopped a breakaway in the third. Cornell pulled her with 1:30 to go in the game and I think they had 4 or 5 grade A chances that they shot wide or over the net. Styner and MacAulay scored the goals for Clarkson, MacAulay got the PP goal in the third. As you said a great game with back and forth action but also a game where each team squandered scoring chances with poor passing. Clarkson especially had three 2 on 1's that they had a pass that miss connected. Should be another great game at Lynah in 2013.

Mercyhurst wins 5-0 over Penn St.

MU outshoots the Nittany Lions 60-10. Totally lopsided affair. It could have been much worse than 5-0. Makela got her Biology homework done during the 3rd period.

I fully agree with the sloppiness at times. Cornell has yet to find its grove in the offensive zone, and even their defensive zone play leaves me scratching my head at times.

Couple close games...a scoreless tie in Mankato with the Buckeyes as the visitor...very near the end of regulation. Now looks like a shootout ahead after scoreless OT.

A tie at two apiece in Grand Forks the Whioux and RIT. start of the 3rd.
