2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Couple close games...a scoreless tie in Mankato with the Buckeyes as the visitor...very near the end of regulation. Now looks like a shootout ahead after scoreless OT.

A tie at two apiece in Grand Forks the Whioux and RIT. start of the 3rd.
Finals...

Alex Nelson scored twice as St. Cloud State beat Lindenwood, 3-1.

Monique Lamoureux scored twice as North Dakota defeated RIT, 3-2.

Danielle Butters made 45 saves for Minnesota State and Chelsea Knapp made 34 saves for Ohio State as the two teams played to a 0-0 overtime tie. The Mavericks switched goalies for the shootout, going with Erin Krichiver, but it wasn't a good call... All three Buckeye shooters scored to give Ohio State a 3-1 shootout victory and the extra point in the WCHA standings.

Same strategy worked against the 'Dogs. Apparently she is the better defender against the breakaway according to the play by play guy that night who had previously spoken to Means on that topic, hence the switch for the shootout. It's a numbers game...sounds like it didn't work this time...but that's the way you have to play it.

UMD 4 BSU 2 Final.

UMD scores 3 unanswered goals plus an empty netter to overcome a 2-0 deficit.

The Colonials!

You would have to have been there... no words can describe the disastrous officiating for the entire weekend at RMU
Just a couple of games in which the score is not a reflection of the best team

Maybe. From my remote location all I can see is Robert Morris grabbed all the conference points up for grabs in this one.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

So, WCHA recap...

St. Cloud State defeats Minnesota State, 5-2, to get a weekend split.

North Dakota blows a 2-0 lead at Madison, losing to Wisconsin 3-2.

Minnesota-Duluth took a late 2-1 third-period lead against Boston University (after trailing at the start of the period), but couldn't hold it. The game finished in a 2-2 OT tie.

Minnesota's winning streak continues. The get a 5-0 shutout victory at Bemidji State.

Still in progress -- Ohio State leads 1-0 over RIT at the second intermission after scoring with 14 seconds left in the second period.

Ohio State scored twice, just 46 seconds apart, in the middle of the third period to take a 3-0 lead. RIT lit the lamp just 1:01 after that, but that wrapped up all the scoring. The Buckeyes win, 3-1.

LOL

The officiating was bad both ways. To suggest that RMU somehow got the majority of calls is ridiculous. RMU got better goaltending and clutch scoring. They won both games. Deal with it.....

First, I'd like to commend the video staff and on-line talent for the RMU broadcast. When you hear them when they think they're off the air, they're a bunch of goofs and completely hysterical, but then they fix their ties/blouse and present a professional quality broadcast, complete with replays and several camera angles. They really do an amazing job relative to the world of women's college hockey broadcasts.

Second, though obviously watching from home, I can agree that the officiating seemed highly erratic, inconsistent, and perhaps excessive.......and yes, both ways for sure.

Third, saying that RMU got better goaltending doesn't really tell the story. Hurst goaltending and team defense wasn't so bad, (4 out of 5 goals on power plays, 1st one on a 5 on 3, save percentages well above 90%) Hurst has had issues with penalty kill all season, and clearly still needs to go back to the whiteboard. But, while Hurst team defense was not exactly sub-par, conversely Diciocco was AMAZING! Based on a review of her stats and my own observations from just a handful of previous games watched, this might have been her best weekend series evah!. I think her timely and atypical performance was the real story. A tip of the hat to her for sure. She and her PK teams held Hurst to just one powerplay goal on what seemed like a zillion chances. This was no small feat considering that Hurst came into the weekend with a 29% conversion rate. It will be no surprise to see her face on tomorrow's CHA weekly superlatives list. Job well done!

Finally, Hurst players and fans most definitely need to "deal with it", especially if they have hopes for a ninth consecutive post season. Even Mr. Artilla had previously posted in one of his columns how Hurst's performance against BC twice and then one with Cornell might speak volumes about a post season appearance, but there are now three more games that likely carry equal weight.... 2 regular season games with RMU, and hopefully another crack at them in the CHA championship.

Syracuse "almost" beats #2 Clarkson this weekend, which combined with the results in Moon Township may indicate that the quality of CHA hockey is on the rise. My last statement won't be taken seriously until these teams "close the deal" in some of their non-conference games, but the trajectory seems to be moving in the right direction.

Kudos to Ms. Diciocco, the RMU multimedia group, and the CHA in general. As for Hurst, a letter to Santa might be necessary to wish for a stronger penalty kill and powerplay.

Wisconsin up 3-0 in the third. JLam picked up the trifecta at 12:29 of the second: roughing minor; checking from behind major; game misconduct. Her sister has only four penalty minutes, so she has some catching up to do.

Doing their best to uphold the Fighting Sioux tradition...so hard to let go.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Wisconsin's Courtney Burke evens up the checking from behind majors and the Whioux score on the power play. Then, behind 3-1 with under two minutes to play, UND fails to successfully count to five and takes a too many players penalty for the second time in the game.

Saw the first two periods and the Lam sister's have to be a couple of the dirtiest players to ever play for the Sioux male or female. Not sure they are upholding as much as creating the tradition. It is nice to know they will leave college without ever winning a championship in the WCHA or NCAA and any hopes of a Patty K are gone as well. Bet they wish they had stayed at Minny, but Frosty is likely glad they left.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

FINAL: Minnesota-Duluth 0, Boston University 0, OT tie.

First ever scoreless game in UMD women's history. I found a BU game that was 0-0 after regulation in Nov. 2005 that they lost to UConn, but I didn't look before that.

UMD outshot the Terriers 38-19, but couldn't get the puck past Ms. Sperry.

BOTH of the checking from behind penalties were really weak, and if you haven't heard we still have half a season and conference playoffs.

Awwww...don't worry your pretty little head about "dealing with it" Hurst WILL deal...never suggested RMU got majority of calls...it's the ones the officials missed that were a HUGE epic fail

Koodoos on the RMU goal tending...wouldn't agree better than MU....clutch scoring.... hahaha ..yeeeaaaaa sure .. ok...if it makes you happy let's go with that :D

I am not just talking about the check from behind, but if you thought that was a weak call I suggest you take a similar cross check from her. Bottom line is both twins are always taking BS cheap shots every chance they get. Also if you think that UND has any chance to win anything you may want to relaod the peace pipe with something differant, your team will be lucky to finish in the top four of the WCHA.
