2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Hab--please explain this: "Union has always had trouble recruiting at the D1 level (no athletic scholarships and no Ive League name), but they have become a much more competitive team since the current coaching staff came on board. " A small school with a very strong academic tradition can recruit, but the 'current coaching staff' [perhaps exempting Chu] has neither talent not credibility. What do you see there?

Said this in another thread and got lanced for it, but the no athletic scholarship/Ivy League name explanation is an excuse, not a reason. The Union men's team went to the Final Four last year (no scholarships/Ivy League name either) and Union is a very good and well-ranked school with ample need based financial aid that would be attractive to any player also looking at Ivy League schools. Six years into the Barcomb tenure and this season has produced 0 ECAC wins (at least they won 1 or 2 each of the last few years). Losing closer games is I guess comforting, but the reality is that the team continues to be the cellar dweller of the league and at some point this will have to reflect on the coaching staff. The recruiting class last season looked stronger than past ones, but is didn't materially affect the results and this year's class as noted in the 2013-2014 thread only has 2 players so far. They are good players but not ones that are going to turn a program around. I would think that the coaching staff will be under serious evaluation after this season.

BC 1
Vermont 1 Final

UCONN 1
BU 0 midway through first

UNH 2

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Pardon me, but what the CHRIST is going on today?

UConn is up FOUR TO ONE on BU after 1...

EDIT: UConn scored on 4 of their 6 shots in the 1st period

EDIT 2: Now 5-1, with goals on 5 of 8 shots. This is awesome.

So, I fully realize how little you care, but..... but in the spirit of "what the CHRIST is going on today", RIT jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Mercyhurst (also a religious school ;) ) at the end of 1. Of course, the good guys came back with 5 answered goals for the win. :D :D :D :D :D

I very much care, it's in everyone's best interest for Mercyhurst not to fall to 8th to have to face Minnesota haha

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Maine 1
BC 0 after two.
Shots 37-14 BC. Britt Ott bricking things up

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

bc super freshman Haley Skarupa ends it 4 minutes into OT. 72 saves for Ott, in I think her last game. Maine had a PP but only seemed to get one shot and 18 seconds later it was over.

bc-Maine 1-1 in OT shots 72-17 bc. That is just insane. bc can't find the back of the net.
The 76th shot squeeked through Ott's right elbow. Note, BC is renowned for counting anything that goes near the net as a shot. Two years ago I was at a game where they said Roxanne Douville had 65 saves and she actually had 41. Whatever the total Ott played a fantastic game and should have been named the #1 star.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

that's crazy! that Maine goalie is going to need therapy, both physical and mental.

And emotional...she just let in what should have been a routine save to end the game and almost gave the game away a minute or two before that. Maybe just exhaustion.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

ALMOST two upsets in ECAC tonight as RPI and Colgate take Clarkson and Cornell to OT before falling. QU and SLU are still in OT.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

St. Lawrence, Cornell and Clarkson all eke out OT wins. Colgate was actually winning late in the 3rd period.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Maybe I missed it earlier, but what's up with Salnier not playing in 3 of the last 4 games. Including not playing tonight.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

After two UNH leads Providence 3-1.
