2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Just the same, I'd rather have NU than UND @ Minnesota in a q'final.

Now that's a game I'd love to see. Love NU...as much as I like and admire UM. Speed vs speed. Smaller team but deadly. If they each played to their abilities it would/should be a rip snorter!

Did I mention I'd love to see that game?

And that's really what we all want out of a NATIONAL tournament -- matchups of teams that we usually don't get to see. I know that there is much anticipation for UND vs Minnesota Part VI for the second straight year, but at this point, we could probably just write some sort of computer simulation and save the NCAA the cost of bus fare, hotels, and meals, since once we get to their tournament, it is all about saving nickels and dimes out of a mega-budget.

Hope everyone remembered to turn their clocks for the two games today! I almost forgot and would have tuned in an hour late! Hope to see some good hockey.

I didn't even realize that DST was coming, but luckily, my computer did. This time of year, if it doesn't show up on a hockey schedule, I likely don't know. ;)

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

BU takes a 2-0 lead in the first on goals by Menard and Lefort. Coyne cuts the deficit to 2-1 in the 2nd.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Kohanchuk increases the BU lead to 3-1 in the third.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Esposito scores for NU to cut BU's lead to 3-2.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Cornell just scored on the PP to take the 2-1 lead. Less than 2 minutes left in the game.

Harvard goalie pulled with 1:26 left in the game.

Harvard time-out with 17 seconds left.

Game over. Cornell wins 2-1. Campbell with the Game Winner.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Seems Like NU Likes to play the easier teams earlier and wiggle into the rankings but cannot get by the other Boston Schools when it counts.
Winning Hockey East should be the start of a true measurement of a in-Sync Hockey Club that has improved through out the long Hockey Season.
Playing in the final eight should be more of measurement for the deepest, better teams playing good Hockey in March , Yes NU won the 2 game Bean Pot ..
would you trade the Bean Pot final for a chance to play a WCHA Top team ? Minnesota will be hard to get by, Should be a good Tournament.

NU had a lot more trouble getting BU and BC earlier. Lost the first 6, won the next three (BC twice, BU once), and the lost to BU. I'd be happy with that progress if I was coach.

Agree they had a great second half of the season. Win one or two of those early games, and they are probably in the tournament.

This is where Harvard got it done in a different way, they won early and often. They were 16-2 when they got to the meat of their schedule in late January and then played about 500 down the stretch in 9 games against teams in the TUC and this got them in.

Don't forget, their number one goalie was playing injured and eventually was shut down for a while.
