2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

I took it as a sincere comment from a fan of the game. Always give posters the benefit of the doubt. I.e., OnMAA-post >>> TTT-post.

The trigger for the post was a discussion I had with a coach this weekend. After I mentioned that Minnesota beat Wisconsin, said coach responded with this quote "Don't think anyone is going to touch Minnesota this year". Personally have had that thought for a while. When I saw the way they won it last year, and how they started this year, not surprising to me. Off course any good team can beat another good team on a single day, and with the single elimination method used in the NCAA, anyone can have a bad day, but if I were a betting man.......well you fill in the blanks.

Cornell up on Mercyhurst 3-0 after 1. Cornell leads the shots on goal 12-5 after 1. Goalie change for Mercyhurst to start the second.

Matty J, did you see what happened to Cicero? It was outside the range of the camera on the home broadcast, meanwhile the extended delay clearly suggests something serious. Any insight?

Didn't see it as I'm watching online also. Cornell announcer said it was a collision near the blue line. It appears to be a head injury. EMS is taking her off the ice. Hope it is an abundance of caution and nothing to serious.

Score still 3-0 after two. Mercyhurst played much better in the second compared to the first. Shots on goal are now 17-11 in Cornell's favor.

Cornell wins 4-0. Cornell had the edge in the final shots on goal were 23-18. I thought Ciampa looked very solid in net for Mercyhurst. LOTS of penalties on Cornell in the third. They need figure out how to stay out of the box because it will come back to bite them.

Jenner had a three point night with two goals and an assist. She has been on fire since coming back from playing with Team Canada at the beginning of January.

Cornell over Union 8-1. Shots on goal were 46-6. Jenner with 6 points on 4 goals and 2 assists. Union scored on the PP with about 2 minutes left in the third.

Harvard and Dartmouth in a 2-2 tie. Holdcroft played well. Crimson D didn't do a good job in transition to the forwards to jumpstart the breakout. Hope this tie doesn't come back to haunt us.

The Dartmouth-Harvard OT tie was a great TV game on Fox College Sports. Ideal exposure for women's hockey -- great rivalry, nonstop action, good crowd, enthusiastic broadcasters, and a suspenseful finish. Did anyone else see it?

Union must be embarrassed with only 6 shots. Alot of talent on the team, but lacks coaching.

Fun game to watch. Dartmouth goalie played "big". Thought Harvard defensively looked good, though very undisciplined with penalties....could be their weakness in post season play.

Maybe just a rivalry thing. The Crimson are one of the least-penalized teams in the country.

5-1 UND after ONE period in Mankato. Looks like UND will pick up its first ever sweep in Mankato! (not too much to celebrate)

Not sure that I would agree with this. Union has always had trouble recruiting at the D1 level (no athletic scholarships and no Ive League name), but they have become a much more competitive team since the current coaching staff came on board. Still don't win a lot of games but they now scare more teams. And not getting many shots against Cornell...well, 7th place RPI has 3 shots in the first period today.

Normally we don't take a lot of penalties. Our D was okay but not great. We spent stretches of the game watching Dartmouth cycle and press the attack. That's not our style of play. We got better late in the second and for parts of the third.

I know nothing of Union, but blaming a 6 SOG effort all on the coaches while saying the players are talented makes no sense to me.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Cornell beats Harvard 3-1 thanks to two goals from Campbell.

Princeton takes down Clarkson 4-1.
