There's also that new sports center up here in Vadnais which (I think) has two rinks. Don't know many details about the place, though.

Not now. It has some of the hardest ice around. The building is one of the coldest and they flood the heck out of it each resurface and it sets up quick. Nice lockers with showers too. A bit pricey though.

I still say STA is the place to go. It's 5.5 miles away from the Xcel Center, a straight shot down I-35E. I can't imagine a rink easier to find. A few might be closer in mileage, but they can't be as simple a route. Add to that, the ice there has always been phenomenal. I've even said this to the rink manager when our hour expired once. And they do have shower stalls in the locker rooms.

But the arena is in Vadnais Heights! It's across the street from Tousley Ford, which isn't technically in the City of White Bear Lake either...

And down the street is Jimmy's http://www.visitjimmys.com/restaurant.html with great happy hour specials and connected to a Holiday Inn Express. You could probably convince the G.M. to run a shuttle to the Frozen Four games.

Postgame eats and drinks is an appealing idea. But in the past, the results have been decidedly mixed.
If the icetime is Friday evening, postgame generally works. In Boston, most of us made it to a nearby TGIF. In DC, maybe half the participants partook at a sports bar in the same complex. Certainly a good time was had by all who did.
When the icetime is on Saturday, getting people to stay around is a taller order. In Denver there was a very tight connection between the end of the Posters' Game and Face-off at the Title Game. To the best of my knowledge, no gathering was scheduled. The St. Louis schedule was a bit more forgiving, but still a little tight. A postgame gathering was planned for a hamburger bar that was attached to the rink. Literally no one stayed. On the other hand, Milwaukee included an "OctoberFest" type establishment that went over fairly well.
Schedule with care. If there isn't an adequate timeslot, your players will blow off the postgame.
