2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

There is a reason I bought a house as far away from the city as I could, without giving myself a commute that would make me go insane. And there are still too many people living close to me. I couldn't even see another house from the house I grew up, and it wasn't because I was surrounded by trees.

To the folks who have said they could help out off-ice I have a request. I need someone to do check-in duty. Any volunteers? I'll have a list ready for you.

2011 USCHO Posters' Game
Augsburg Arena
Minneapolis, Minnesota

ON-LINE ROSTER
Final On-Line Edition
No Further Updates
*** All Changes MUST be sent to bostonewe@gmail.com ***

With 22 definites, the numbers look solid. With a good turnout from the probables and possibles, we may even fill! Where to draw the line is goldy_331's call. But in the past, 30 skaters and 2-3 goalies has usually been the limit. So if you want to play, don't take a chance. E-mail bostonewe today.

It's a great group. I know I speak for both alfablue and bostonewe when I say we're very sorry we won't be there to enjoy this year's game and festivities.

On a personal level, let me send out a shout to beerman. I'm glad you're playing; thanks for carrying the flag for OSU this year.;)

Another personal note: I WILL be in attendance at the tournament semi-finals on Thursday, and do hope to see some of you at the X.

Everyone: Be sure to extend a huge thanks to goldy_331 for all his contributions as a first-time organizer. Without his efforts, this event wouldn't have happened.

Once again, walk-ups may be accepted. But advance registration is strongly recommended.

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

Alas, it's amazing to realize how fast your life can change. 24 hrs ago, I was ready to play in this game, and run a 5k earlier in the morning.

Now, I'm not even coming....

Have a great time, all- I'll miss playing with the ones brave enough to put skates on.

(note- I know that's not all that brave- just calling brent a whimp. ;) )

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

Yeah, I hear the hoods love to get up early on Saturday mornings so they can go stir sh*t up by the hospital/local ice rink.

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

In the interest of full disclosure, people should know that area is pretty rough even during the day.

Bollocks. I lived in Cedar-Riverside, a stone's throw from the Augsburg rink, for a year. If by "rough" you mean "there are Somalis" then sure, but that's about where it ends. No one is going to get mugged, even if you decide to walk up to seven corners for a post-game libation. And you should. Town Hall is awesome.

The only full disclosure necessary is that Minneapolis is a city, and you should treat it as such. That applies to time you spend around Augsburg, and it also applies if you decide to hike up to Cathedral Hill in St. Paul before the games at the X.

Don't mean that and I am not implying that either. Just saying there are a fair amount of crime in that entire part of Minneapolis. Middle of the morning, probably not as much, but it still isn't Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

You were making it sound much worse than it is.

I've driven/walked around North Minneapolis (considered the worst "area" besides the Lake St area) in day, at night, etc. Given that I'm a cracka-arse-cracka (c) Chris Rock, I'd say the Augsburg neighborhood will be okay.
