Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

I think the only reason I am not in tears right now is because I am watching with my parents and I am holding them back.

Wow. :)

sitting here now i can vividly remember sitting on my friends couch in '91 as the pens beat the north stars to win their (and my) first cup.... i hear what y'all are saying. :)

Daren Pang has his microphone on a stick to interview Chara!

Congrats to all the Bruins' fans on the board. Long time coming, enjoy the ride!

I'll echo Ovah's congrats. Clearly, the better team won. Nice to see Kaberle win it.

Now, I hope I'll get the love when the Leafs end their drought! ;)

Do we know the opening night opponent next season? I so hope they get to raise the banner against Montreal.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Congrats to B's and all the fans on the board. I only wanted the Canucks to win for reasons I stated earlier, but you deserved it. Enjoy it. I remember in 94 when my Rangers won. It felt so good to FINALLY win it. It's a great feeling.

Better feeling for fans here: College or NHL team winning it?

College hands down

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

I know it does, but it seemed way over the top this year

More of the fans stuck around this year and Canadians hate Bettman like fire. Last three have been given out on the road, and the arena usually clears out faster because more Americans won't stick around for twenty minutes to see the Cup awarded to the other team. Before the last three, the previous 3 cup winners were Anaheim, Carolina, and Tampa Bay at home. Less reason for them to boo a guy for "bringing hockey to the south"

This isn't even close to the '93 team. Now, if the Bruins give me a ring I'll reconsider :D

Interesting question. I'm closer and have more invested in my college team and winning in 2009 was something incredibly special and amazing, but this is pretty freakin' awesome!

My college won in 1991, when I never even heard my University. Growing up in Maine, I grew up a Boston sports fan, so its nice to see a win in hockey.

Being a UMaine fan as well, 1993 and 1999 were nice but I was only a freshman in high school at the time. The 1999 win was very dramatic and I was excited...but seeing the Bruins win, a team that while it made the playoffs every year until 1997 they were never really "in it." I barely remember staying up late to watch in 1990 against Edmonton but that wasnt even close.

I know at NMU, a school which its fan base is very close with the team. I cant tell you what that would mean to me. I know I could get on the ice after the game, Ive been a frequent visiter to the locker-room.

Congrats, Boston fans. Enjoy the hell out of it. I remember the same feeling when we watched Yzerman hoist the Cup for the first time. It's a wonderful feeling.
