Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

That would be about all I could hope for. With U of M and/or MSU usually being Top 10 material, that's a big 'perhaps'. This winter, we even throw BC into the mix. :-/

EDIT: Reports already rolling in that Recchi will retire.

He announced it when being interviewed on the local news.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

I figured he probably would, but I'm surprised he was so quick to announce it. No sense in dragging it out, I guess.

Holy Schnicke, the people in Vancouver have gone totally bonkers.

Edit: Canucks fans just broke into a bank...um....

sitting here now i can vividly remember sitting on my friends couch in '91 as the pens beat the north stars to win their (and my) first cup.... i hear what y'all are saying. :)

F you.

Congrats to B's and all the fans on the board. I only wanted the Canucks to win for reasons I stated earlier, but you deserved it. Enjoy it. I remember in 94 when my Rangers won. It felt so good to FINALLY win it. It's a great feeling.

F you, too. Twice over.

They were talking about it in the closing minutes of the game (Recchi's last chance at a Cup, etc etc). I thought he announced it midseason due to that.

And for me, I've seen my (granted second/current NHL) team win it 3 times, and my (fanbased) college team win it twice. Tough call, but I'd go with my NHL team.

you'd think such a weed dominated town would be a lot more calm.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

You would think, after what happened in 1994, the city might've had a plan to nip this in the bud...?

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

It's all pretty disturbing to see. I hate to say it, but if the situation was reversed, I could see something similar happening here. But honestly, what is the point of all that ridiculousness???

*sigh*

Um.......the Bruins just won the Stanley Cup!! ZOMG!!!!

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

I seriously will not be surprised when a Bryan Stow situation occurs in Boston.

Good call.

Nothing like that would everh appen in Boston.

As for college vs. pro? I've seen them both in the last two years, so I don't need to choose!

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Canucks fans are scum. What is new?

Many losing teams' fans (and some winning teams' fans) are guilty of this. It's nothing new. It's pitiful and disgusting, but let's not pretend that this is an isolated incident because most of us hate the Canucks.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

So, to get your name on the Cup, you have to have played 41 games, or 1 Stanley Cup game. Missing the cut off was Kampfer (38 games) and Savard (25 games). Hindy I believe appeared in a game vs. Montreal in the post season after appearing in 3 regular season games.

My question is what about Rask? Are the rules different for backup goalies?
