Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Better feeling for fans here: College or NHL team winning it?

College hands down

Interesting you bring this up; I'd remarked to my friend that UMD upon winning the NCAA championship this year looked happier than the Bruins winning the Stanley Cup.

The last time my college team won I wasn't even born, but we had a taste of the tournament this year and I can imagine how great it would be.

And of course, congratulations again to both the Bulldogs and the Bruins!

I should clarify. My alma mater (Oswego) did win the title in 07 in D3 and it was awesome. I'll take that over the Rangers, but it's almost 1 and 1A.

College hands down

I saw my NHL team win four cups, and none of them lived up to just getting to the F4 with Cornell

Dear Brad Marchand,

The NHL Shop won't sell a Road Authentic Jersey... worse, they won't sell one with a Finals patch on it. Can I have yours?

Sincerely,

A Boston Bruins Fan

A national championship and then they let Colby Cohen on the ice! It's no Drury in Colorado, but hey.

Go B's! Cup Champions!

The Vancouver sound guys are now playing "Tessie"

I bet you Luongo is channeling his inner Denis Lemieux.

"Hello... trade me right bleeping now!"

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Interesting question. I'm closer and have more invested in my college team and winning in 2009 was something incredibly special and amazing, but this is pretty freakin' awesome!
That is why I asked, I bet most people here feel the same way!
My college won in 1991, when I never even heard my University. Growing up in Maine, I grew up a Boston sports fan, so its nice to see a win in hockey.

Being a UMaine fan as well, 1993 and 1999 were nice but I was only a freshman in high school at the time. The 1999 win was very dramatic and I was excited...but seeing the Bruins win, a team that while it made the playoffs every year until 1997 they were never really "in it." I barely remember staying up late to watch in 1990 against Edmonton but that wasnt even close.

I know at NMU, a school which its fan base is very close with the team. I cant tell you what that would mean to me. I know I could get on the ice after the game, Ive been a frequent visiter to the locker-room.
An NMU championship
At this point college, but let's be honest - Tech's never winning anything of significance again.
Perhaps they have a GLI in them sometime
I won't know that dilema because Clarkson will never win it. :D
I thought the same thing as a UMD fan...

Yay! It is bringing back memories right now! Now I want more championship

I knew people would say something like this!

Raise your hand (me) if you snickered derisively when boston signed Thomas to the 4 year, 20M deal. Couldn't have been more wrong, and I know I'm not alone.

That would be about all I could hope for. With U of M and/or MSU usually being Top 10 material, that's a big 'perhaps'. This winter, we even throw BC into the mix. :-/

EDIT: Reports already rolling in that Recchi will retire.

Happy for the Bruins and Boston. It will be great to get Boston back to being a hockey town. But I'm most happy that the Can****s didn't win. My word did I grow to hate this team during this series. What a bunch of weenies.

Cool that the Conn Smythe has gone to two straight college boys.

And Vancouver continues to burn...
