I knew at 3-1. You cannot keep burying yourself in 2-goal deficits and expect to come out of it. They were lucky to get away with it in Game 5.

I'm calling it. Tampa vs. Vancouver for the Cup, and NHL execs commit suicide (OK, maybe not the second half of that statement). :p

I suspect Boston is coming out of the East. There's got to be some point where a 41 year old goaltender runs out of gas.

As for the West, flip a coin, but I'm leaning toward Vancouver. If it's Vancouver-Boston, I like Boston. Otherwise, it's San Jose hoisting the cup.

Strangely, I don't feel the need to drink to forget this one. Detroit, with a little luck, did almost all they could after spotting the Sharks the 3-0 lead. The biggest thing for me in these playoffs, was that I think Howard finally solidified himself as the goalie of the near future. I think I can now justify Kenny giving him that raise before the offseason.

Of course, the fact that I have work in nine hours probably has something to do with staying sober too.

I can hear Gary Bettman in his office now.

"Awww! I don't wanna go to Canada. I hate that place and they hate me. There's nothing up there and people down here won't watch them."

Puts both hands on his chin and pouts.

Well, that turned out well. Now that Detroilet is eliminated, I can focus my hatred on Vancouver. I'm rooting for a San Jose-Tampa final. Just because I can.

I'm glad the Western series has a few weekend games, so the entire series isn't after my bedtime. :p
