Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

It does look a bit like him, but I'd be ****ed if a player on my team was in the Stanley Cup parade for another team wearing their gear. So, I doubt that's him.

The more I thought about it, the more I came to this same conclusion. This person is wearing Bruins Stanley Cup gear. I really don't think the Predators would be thrilled with that, I don't care how close Cohen and Wilson may be.

Just saw your pics 'ewe. They came out great. And was Colby at Fenway today? He was announced as part of the lineup when the duck boats were circling Fenway.

i doubt colin was on there... he put up a tweet (he's rather amusing...) that the parade was going past his place.. implying of course that he was there and heard it.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Double deckers tend to be used a lot in Europe for celebrations, that or the go out on the balcony and show off the trophy while the city parties in the square.

Where they proceed to drop the trophy & the bus crushes it.

Not sure how up to date you are on technology, but it is possible these days to tweet from mobile devices.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Looks like the salary cap has been set at 64/48. That 48 may be a more important number than the 64; some teams are going to have to work to get to that number....

Starting to wonder if we won't have a partial lockout again next year because the floor is so high.

Glad we lost a season for this.

Agreed with your point, and it seems that the NHLPA may be thinking the same way, given they seemed to allow their automatic 5% inflator (i.e.; no escrow).

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

One more thing about the cap floor....we are fast approaching the time where bloated, bad contracts have trade value. Perhaps there's hope yet for Scott Gomez to be traded! He'd look great in Florida. :D

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

I'd trade Hudler for a bag of pucks. In other news, Ericcson turned down a second offer from Detroit that was allegedly in excess of $2.5 million a year. For the love of Parise, Holland, please drive him to Detroit Metro and wish him on his way.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Can't wait to see some moron offer Ehrhoff $7 million a year now.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Which was the idea, after all.

Sure, but it's wholly unattainable for some franchises. They'll have to spend to it, which only means more financial losses; and eventually, less stability for the league. My overall point is that we lost a season for a cap system that is very flawed.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Max Pacioretty gets a two year deal from Montreal, 2 yrs/3.25M total. Very good deal for Montreal.

Agreed, I'd take a potential 25-30 goal scorer for 1.625 a year.

The Rangers paid that amount for an enforcer last year and were paying Drury 7 million per year for one season over 20 goals.

I loved having Drury on the team, but we grossly overpaid for him and subsquently crippled the team for the last five years when he couldnt replicate the success he had in Buffalo.

Cap Geek is my friend.

For example, if you are a decent UFA, Florida would look very nice.

I agree with your larger point, but it's also far more interesting than the MLB system where a handful of big market teams bribe the rest of the league to be cannon fodder and 90% of fans start every year with no chance to see their team win a title. There's no perfect way of balancing revenue sharing, incentive to win, and keeping teams viable -- they'll need to keep tacking and making adjustments as they go. The strong Canadian dollar is really savings their butts right now, at least.
