2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Mitch Lake?
MEEEEECHIGAN!
My guesses would be Jamie, the Wild announcer, or the UND announcer.
My guess is Jamie because UMTC is the host. I do enjoy the job he does.

Please dear god no to the UND announcer.

Unless he helps RWD and I with our announcement for everyone: "Dell's moms name is Laurie and she is a WHOOOOOOOOREE!"

Are you going to the FF? Do you have to take your front yard sign and post it on your hotel door?

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Here are some interesting team stats heading into the Frozen Four...

Powerplay:
7th - North Dakota (23.32%)
27th - Michigan (18.23%)
Penalty Kill:
5th - North Dakota (86%)
21st - Michigan (83.1%)
Shorthanded Goals:
3rd - North Dakota (11)
6th - Michigan (8)
Can you show me shorthanded goals allowed? I'll bet UM gives up at least one. Their PP is attrocious. It's only at 18% because it was clicking at 25% at the beginning of the year. If UND scores 3 goals, Michigan loses.

1. Yes.
2. What the hell are you talking about?
3. Better question for you, which Twin Cities area Wal-Mart are you parking your house?

Ha! Don't be ridiculous. Biddy doesn't have a front yard!

Dear Biddy,

You can't apply squatters rights on CC house in the WalMart parking lot.

Michigan allowed 5 SHG, Notre Dame 4, North Dakota 7, and Duluth only 2.

3 tends to be the key for North Dakota. North Dakota is 30-2-2 when they score 3 goals or more this season.

Interesting fact that UMD has given up the least SHG and North Dakota has given up the most.

Three is the magic number... Michigan is 24-1-3 when scoring three or more goals this season.

Agreed. Only Nebraska-Omaha and Ferris State had better percentages than Duluth, at least between the CCHA and WCHA.

North Dakota - 223 Powerplays/7 SHG (3.14%)
Minnesota Duluth - 204 Powerplays/2 SHG (0.98%)
Michigan - 181 Powerplays/5 SHG (2.76%)
Notre Dame - 204 Powerplays/4 SHG (1.96%)

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Thanks for having my back. :)

I did find it interesting to note that in our regional Notre Dame was last or next to last among the four teams in a number statistical categories, based on a post similar to FS23s done by one of the MU posters. We came out of it OK:D. And I'm not posting this to say you are saying anything you weren't in your stats post, FS23, just illustrating that anything can happen. I love it when you break out a good thorough one like the one in this thread, much like ones one of our posters, JJfP, does, usually focusing on Notre Dame's next game.

Saying that, every team is in the top-12 for shorties, so Powerplay units can't completely lay off defensively.

I think Notre Dame finished 2nd overall in shorties (could be wrong) but its worth noting that virtually all of our shorties came in the first half. Our PK was more effective, both as a PK and as an offensive threat earlier in the season. Our PP has been remarkably consistent in it's relative mediocrity all year, hovering between 15% and 17% after virtually every game.

Sorry. Couldn't help but think of that.

FWIW, I looked at 6 categories and Notre Dame "beat" Duluth in 3 and "lost" in 3.

Obviously anything can happen. As I said, stats aren't best used to try to predict a 1-game scenario. They are best used to look at past events to try and determine which teams may have certain advantages. Any of the four teams are capable of winning it all.

For proof of the pudding, see Post #157 at the West Regional thread. :(

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

If I wanted to look at a bunch of stats I would have googled them.

And you posted that you were too ignorant or stupid to do so, and report your opinion.

Try again, sparky.

Sincerely,

A Rather Arrogant MN Fan

WHo gets hurt the most by the 2 week layoff? I think UMD, I'll bet their goalie cools off seeing as he is just recently their starter.
