2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

I wouldn't joke about that if I were you, Minnesota has experience with sports venues collapsing...

I love when Michiganders think insulting the dump that is the Metrodome, will hurt Minnesotans feelings. That place is a ****hole and should be imploded for a new Vikings stadium.

Hey, we STILL have it's twin. Sitting empty for a few years now. Growing grass in the parking lot.

talk about an eyesore.

Wasn't there a news story awhile back that talked about you could by the Silverdome for something like $150 grand? I thought that was classic.

That is a little more sad.

If the LA Vikings ever come around we might too...

I thought it was $150.00. And still nobody wanted it... ;)

(really, I don't pay attention anymore, since I can't find anyone who can speak for the property, and I can get access to the lot....)

We get it, NoDak should easily win on paper but this is why they play the games. Go Blue!

You don't get it. FS23 is a stat guy, if you haven't noticed. He was just posting stats. In no way was he trying to say North Dakota should easily win.

Ummm, where did he say that? He posted a set of stats for the teams. Any one of the four teams going to St. Paul could win the whole thing, and we all know that.

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Only a good Frozen Four because a Minnesota team is there. Notre Dame is trash and should stick to trying to recover their long lost football glory. If both Michigan and the Sioux could lose simultaneously that would be the best case scenario. Have to lean towards North Dakota though since the WCHA is hands down the best conference in college hockey. Guess the rigorous schedules of the east coast didnt pay off come playoff time, darn.

Oh my god!!!! When did this happen!!!! Despite living in Minneapolis I was completely unaware of this occurrence!!!!
I'm picturing Brett Favre standing on top of the Dome, hacking it down himself in the blind hope that he could bring our painfully poor season to an end.

I'm sticking with that.

Thanks for having my back. :)

As you both stated, I was not trying to say that these stats would directly relate to wins. It is interesting to look at the numbers though, and try to see what teams have advantages in certain aspects of the game, especially on special teams. North Dakota and Duluth take almost an extra penalty/game on average than Michigan and Notre Dame. Saying that, every team is in the top-12 for shorties, so Powerplay units can't completely lay off defensively. To me, the only stat that North Dakota has a big advantage is PK. Given that, IMO, stats are best used to look at past results and where teams may have advantages, and not to necessarily predict results of a 1-game scenario.

We forget a lot about the Lions, too. Although, we do that more intentionally.....

Hockey lets you forget a lot.

I had a flight through Minneapolis about 2 months ago. We flew right over the Metrodome. Usually pilots like to point crap like that out.

No dice, I had to spot it on my own. They pointed out some giant lake (I forgot the name of it) but no love for the collapsed roof of the Metrodome. Really???

It was honestly one of the coolest things I’ve seen from the window of an airplane…

Yeah Michigan's PK was a big liability all year. They were absolutely hopeless against elite PP units like CC (4 for 5 in the GLI final) and not much better against everybody else. Then out of nowhere they were phenomenal on the PK last weekend, only giving up one against two really good PP's despite taking a lot of penalties. They even killed a 5 on 3 against CC, which was pretty much unimaginable after what happened at the GLI. Michigan's going to need that version to show up next Thursday to have a chance against ND, especially if the game is being called like the Regionals were.

I wonder who will the PA guy. Jamie from UMTC? The Wild guy?

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

My guesses would be Jamie, the Wild announcer, or the UND announcer.
