As you both stated, I was not trying to say that these stats would directly relate to wins. It is interesting to look at the numbers though, and try to see what teams have advantages in certain aspects of the game, especially on special teams. North Dakota and Duluth take almost an extra penalty/game on average than Michigan and Notre Dame. Saying that, every team is in the top-12 for shorties, so Powerplay units can't completely lay off defensively. To me, the only stat that North Dakota has a big advantage is PK. Given that, IMO, stats are best used to look at past results and where teams may have advantages, and not to necessarily predict results of a 1-game scenario.
