2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

It's going to take a Herculean effort to get past both Notre Dame and then North Dakota. For this reason, I'm really hoping Michigan can pull off the upset.
You might want to worry about getting past Notre Dame before worrying about who you may face in the final! :p

[Begin Pocket Protector voice guy] Pardon me, but I believe the cities of South Bend and Ann Arbor are located in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, which hampers your theory of the current tournament being quote all-West unquote. [Push up thick glasses]

But Michigan is "The victors of the west!". South Bend is further west than A2.

Eastern Standard Time, huh? So it is the same time as CDT, which we are currently on, then. *pushes up thicker glasses*

Thats what I'm want as well! Packed house at the X, will be an awesome game!

I must say that would be an exciting game to watch, but I'm hoping for Michigan vs. Notre Dame in the final.

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

ESPN wet dream.... ND vs Mich in the Final.... just thinking about it makes me want to throw up...

This makes me want to vomit by the fight songs alone.

As a BC fan there is nothing in this for me. Notre Dame: rival. Michigan: I still hate them from '98. No. Dak.: Rival. UMD I am ambivalent about just because I don't know anything about them. So prima face, nothing here for me.

No little guy to root for, either. I'd get behind a Western team that was likeable but none of them are to me. In 2005, I would have been happy with pretty much any of the non-No.Dak. schools winning. (I am wearing a Gopher t-shirt right now, actually)

For those of you making insinuations about my motivations here (homerism, etc), give me your email address and I'll contact you next time your team isn't in the FF. If you're going (as I will be this year and most years), we can talk then, 'k?

Re: 2011 Frozen Four Thread - Minnesota Duluth - Notre Dame - North Dakota - Michigan

Maybe the announcer guy is super old. St. Peter could have been the capital of Minnesota back in the 1850's.

Is someone bitter BC didn't make it? Or that a Boston team isn't winning this year?

I like UMD's chances to make the final. I think UMD's speed matches well against ND.

UND, UMAA will be an interesting contest.

Also it is interesting after a team from Boston won it all three years in a row, we now have an all "western bias" Frozen Four.

The University of Michigan Alumni Association would kick the crap out of North Dakota.

Hello! UMD IS the little guy! A great history despite no national championships. Lost in FOUR overtimes to Bowling Green in the 1984 championship game. We were one unlucky and crazy bounce on the boards from winning from winning that game.

Plus we have almost the same colors (metallic gold isn't quite gold)

Exactly how little do you need your little guys to be?

Please. We'd break whiskey bottles and cut up the entire UMAAAA. Plus we'd have our alumni pilots drop bombs on the UMAAAA. Not Geist though. I don't trust him.

Speaking of the UMAAAA, will UMAA be sending the UMAAAB to play to St. Paul? Or will we get to experience the real UMAA band play one song?

That's usually how I choose how to root for. The past few years we've had Bemidji and RIT which have been nice. This year's nice stories, Merrimack and WMU, were both bounced on annoying goals in OT, which is part of why I am so cranky about this.

UMD is a major conference team that both was in the FF and had a Hobey winner in the last ten years. I'm pretty ambivalent, and they are the least unlikeable team to me, so I will probably root for them.

Depends on how one defines little as well. Notre Dame has the smallest enrollment.

How do you guys define little? You play in a major conference and have over 10,000 students! :p To be technical, Notre Dame is the smallest school, by enrollment, in the Frozen Four this year.

If only there was a Michigan alum that had experience with bombing universities and airplanes...

We'd have our astronauts take your pilots into outer-space and then drop them off...:p

It's a good thing Purdue only plays club hockey because they'd win the astronaut argument with UM by a fairly wide margin.
